Need help with java and formatting.

Topic started on 24-9-2004 @ 06:44 AM by pennyforyourthoughts

Hi. I haven't formatted my pc for about 3 years now. 2 years ago deltree'd windows and re installed. I use graphic desing software ( a lot of them ) I'm using win98se, which kept me going for 3 years.

Javascripts don't work at my explorer, I uninstalled all java from my machine many times and went to the sun site to re install, didn't work.

My Hdd is like a jungle now and I'm considering formatting and installing xp.

What do you guys think? Xp or 98se. will xp slow down my graphic software?

Depends on processor and amount of memory, if windows starts using swap file speeds goes down from drain.

For graphic designing I would say that XP needs at least 1024 MBs.
If machine has 512MBs already one third (or even two thirds) of it is in use considering amount of "background" software running.

And remember you need JRE (Java runtime environment), not SDK (Software Development Kit).
