WTF? What the hell is wrong with people? This is the second story I have heard like this today. I have just lost complete faith
in humanity, never had much anyway. Now I have none.

What is there to say? Sure we can express our moral outrage, and I am. I'm angry, I get frustrated when time after time, these criminals are
brought before a judge, and so many have a prior history of this sort of thing. It's enough to make one yearn for vigilante justice, but...that in
its own way would be almost as sordid a crime as this one. Still one can fantasize.
Society does indeed have its problems, oh yes. But for every seeming random act of wanton cruelty, there are a hundred acts of random out of the blue
acts of kindness.
Read Chisslers Paying it forward thread for some examples. Before you write off society and all its warts, remember the good that's out there too.

This is why I'm not sure I'd make a great cop. If I were to find the guy who did this, I think I would kill him. I don't know if I have it in me
to just bring a guy in who did this to a little girl. This kind of stuff really gets to me. My day has been dampened .

OK.
Beyond the shock and horror of it, what is the point of posting these stories to ATS? What is there to debate here? Is there anyone here who isn't
going to agree that this is awful?
We can come up with a new horror story like this every day, unfortunately, but I'm not sure how it's relevant to ATS's mission.

Theres cops out there who do what your talking about. If not the cops sometimes the prisoners themselves do it before a trial. My Aunt was brutally
raped and murdered, she was close to 80 years old. Her murderer a crazed drug addict never made it to court. No prisoner got charged with his death
either.
If I remember something like that happened to jefferey dahmer as well.

Actualy, if there are a 100 people on that street that hear the kid scream, there's a good chance not a single one of them called 911.
Don't write of soceity, but don't think its all that good either.
A good chunk of my unit does nothing all day but handle child abuse, child pornography and child molester cases and this kind of thing happens so
often that if the news reporters were worth anything these days, they'd have a 1000 rape or child molestation stories like this headlining the papers
and news programs in the US every single day.
For the US of frigin A:
* 1 of 5 girls will be sexually molested before her 18th birthday.
* 1 of 6 boys will be sexually molested before his 18th birthday.
* 1 of 5 children has been propositioned for sex over the Internet.
* 2 of 3 sexual abuses are perpetrated against teenagers or younger children.
* 90% of sexual assaults are committed against someone the perpetrator knows.
* The median age for male molestation victims under 18 is 9.8 years old.
* The median age for female molestation victims under 18 is 9.6 years old.
* There are new 400,000 victims of sexual assault every year.
* There are over 550,000 registered sex offenders in the US.
* There are over 100,000 sex offenders that fail to register in the US.
* 76% of serial rapists claim they were molested as children.
* Over 40% of male juvenile delinquents were molested as children.

Its a statement on the human condition. I was thinking after I read this article about the planet that was found today and thinking what if there are
others out there. What if we are violent scum, that scares me. Here we go looking for other species. What happens when we find one that thinks were a
disease that needs to be cured. Thats why I posted this. This kind of behavior sickens me and it scares me to think how another species may react to
us. G-d help us if we get the wrong world's attention.

nydailynews
this is from today's NY Daily News. Last night it was stated on the news.
when did they change it?
edited to point out the date on the original article vs. the link to today's article.
the ME says accidental. I'm not sure where the NY Daily News reporter got that info but it seems to be wrong. I read the Daily News almost every
day (delivery no shows three days in a row and I didn't read Monday's) and haven't seen a correction or retraction but I'm hoping it comes.

It seems like a cover up now.
Rape, no rape
Murder, accidental hanging.
Hmmmmm..........................
I wasn't even going to look at this thread because the horror of society makes me sick inside, but maybe there is more to this story and it needs to
be looked at closer before closing the case I would think.

If the story was changed to be an accident while it isn't an accident, they might be on the tail of a serial killer/rapist.
If there was no evidence of rape, the child can still have been murdered imho. Its kinda strange they say its an accident so soon if the other details
in the article are correct.

she accidentally hung herself. The rape aspect hasn't been reported since that first report.
I'll see if I can dig up more info on the story but the only mention of rape was in that one article you linked from Monday. No other paper reported
it unless they were referencing the Daily News article. Unproven as far as I can find.

Monique was taken to Our Lady of Mercy Medical Center, where nurses and doctors attempted to revive her for more than 45 minutes. But she could
not be saved. Police sources initially believed the child had been raped, but that proved to be wrong.

Early news reports said that the girl, whom the police identified yesterday as Monet Fulgham, had been raped, but the police later denied that
assertion.

Agreed. I thought that's why there was PTS and BTS. These types of stories, while horrifying, I think have another home. I enjoy ATS for the
conspiracy angles. If I wanted this I would just turn on the news

That is bizarre I just read the article. Reminds me of the film The Matrix when there was a glitch in it and it corrected itself.
