Why the # do Americans (*) have to claim the name America as their own, huh??? Newsflash!!! America is not only the United States!!! Get that through your thick #ing skulls!!!!! America is from the tip of Argentina, to the tip of Canada. And you better #ing acknowledge that!!! I am from America also, but I am not from the United States!!!

All is well with the U.S. and I love the country, but it's inhabitants must stop being so arrogant and must stop claiming the name of a whole friggin continent for their own!!!

*(yeah funny name, isn't it? But what does United Statians sound like, or do we just call them USA'ers)

The next member to mention the U.S.A. as being America... I'm gonna 'em!!! Just kidding... I'm just gonna 'em!!!

That's because most other countries give their country a name. United States of America is more of a description.

Not just us (i.e. Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, Commonwealth of....(insert various names here), ), etc.

To be more correct though, you are lumping two continents into one... (North America and South America), so quit poking fingers!

We are called the United States of America. That is what we are. Since we have America in our name we called ourselves Americans.

Hehehehe. I understand how you feel! I'm in Canada here. I sometimes also thought that it was lame how they approriated them selve the name of America.
...well...kinda...

Since we're in the rant forum, those f*ckers RAPED America and stoled her name!

Just kidding. I am not anti-american, just anti-bush and his crew (especially his "crew")

Gazrok

So you did.

Not only that, but I came back to see what you had said, and this time I noticed that you did.

In all of America my two favorite spots are beachside Ipanema and Machu Picchu/Aguas Calientes.

Look at it this way, ancient people crossed the Bering land bridge onto Alaska. Alaska is the first place they touched. Alaska is one of the United States of America. USA was the first country to be touched by people therefore the name goes to the people of the country that was first inhabited. The people of the USA choose to be called Americans therefore anyone else who wants a name has to come up with something else 'cause the people of the USA grabbed "Americans" first. Biatch!

Yeah, but those other places have something unique about them, i.e Soviet.

Well you had nothing to do with Alaska when you named the country.

Of course I know that, but for the sake of the rant and of inhabitants of north and south America I left that out.

But, they sometimes split it into three. North America, South America and Central America (which includes the Caribbean).

And sometimes again it's split into four: Carib, Central, South and North.

Your right, there is

N. America
Central America
S. America

However because they have the name America in their name, they refer to themselves as "American"

I call myself a Canadian...
I don't know what you call yourself...

I also refer to the states, as the states.. .See?? HAHA.

Or shall I say I refer to The U.S as the states...

It's shorter...

I don't call myself American cuz im not...

I might as well call myself a north american but thats too many syllables, so i'll just say canadian...
Ahhh it's so much shorter, and it reminds me of smelly hockey shirts and beer.

Good combo eh??

We're better than all those other countries so we get the America title. As soon as all those other countries stop being so lame then they can claim the moniker. HA HA!
