ThanX. It is quite beautiful in a tranquil and serene sort of way.

That first pic seems to have one of those spiral/wormholes opening in it.

Hi folks, you guys are probably tired of seeing me post pics of snow storms, trust me I'm tired of taking them ... anyhoot, here's the third major snowstorm of the season in DC totaling over 50 inches in less than a month, unheard of in the local area.

Back yard now with over 4 feet of snow:

Front of house (this is just today accumulation, snow from last weekend had been cleared):

It's almost an year since I posted a photo on this thread, and now that I finally have a digital camera again, I can take the photos that I want.

Yesterday, when I got home, I decided to use the opportunity of having a clear sky to try to photograph some stars, and this is what I got (this is one of the best photos, I don't have a tripod good enough and I had to take the photos in a somewhat difficult position).

Last week I did the same, but with a longer exposure time (the above photo was taken with a 5 second exposure) and zoomed in to maximum, and this was the result.

I couldn't understand why all the photos looked like that until my sister said that it was not a result of camera shake, it was a result of the stars moving during the 16 seconds exposure when seen with the full optical zoom (24 X) of the camera.

This one was taken in January, during another clear sky period.

This time I didn't post the full size photos because they are too large (4000 x 3000), but if anyone wants a full size copy just ask.

PS: for those that ask why there are no stars on the photos taken on the Moon, my Moon photo has an exposure time of 1/320 seconds, 1600 times faster than the first stars photo.

Well, this is nothing compared to the blizzard in the NE, but this is a lot of snow for the Dallas area.

Thank you! That's so kind of you to say...I look forward to getting to know some of the "newer" members here and getting back to an active posting status

Well - I've got about two or three years worth of photos I can slowly start posting, given how long I've been out of the loop here!
