My cat is 7 months old... and since yesterday she's in heat.
Ok, I know it's natural cat behaviour, she will be over it in a couple of days.... I just don't know if my husband can put up with it for that long.
I swear he has this 'I'm gonna kill you' look in his eyes towards the kitty. I don't remember it being this way with my older cat...
The kitty, she screams all day and rubs over the floor... it's irritating as hell.
I have an appointment with the AD in a month... but untill then,
what can we do about it?
I was hoping that there are cat owners here who have some tips or tricks to make her stop acting this way? It's driving us insane and she's keeping
us up all night with the cat-screams.
Help us!

I'm very sad to hear your having problens with your cat. Unlike dogs, cats don't need to be trained. If your cat is freeking out there is a reason.
It can be as simple smells or sounds in the room. Or they can manifest the same phycosis we do. Fear of being alone, dealing with strangers,
displacled aggression, etc The fact the cat acts this way with you is quite telling
My advice untill you get her checked out is to get her some kitty toys. Get her some little faux mice, maybey a tennis ball or small stuffed animal.
No not a real animal. I also recomend you get your kitty some catnip. Catnip is to cats what every drug that gives us pleasure is to us. But most
important, you need to get your cat checked out if for no other reason then to rule out any organic disease. If I come accross any thing usefull I
will let you know on this post.
I should add I have great respect for others who love animals. It shows a maturity of our species. Beyond our own kind, when we start to see animals
in that special light, it's not just the right thing to do, it makes us stronger.

Well I once had a cat that did that, and I feel for you. Trying to sleep is the worst, but every time I would get out of bed, I couldn't help feeling
sorry for her. I really have no tips or tricks other than a trip to the Vet but like you say, it will be over in just a couple of days.
You brought back some memories with this post and I wish you and your kitty the best of luck. Just keep telling your husband that it isn't her fault
and that it will be taken care of soon.
Just don't get so upset that you let her out, or you will have all sorts of little ones then..

Thanks for all the advice, but
I think you skipped the first line of my OP...
my kitty isn't sick, she just wants to go out and make lots and lots of little kitty babies... that time of the year... hense the cat screaming all
night
I think in this case, catnip will make it only worse

yeah I do feel sorry for her, makes me wonder if the cats understand what exactly is happening to their bodies. I know my older cat doesn't, she just
keeps jumping on top of the little one (which of course makes it only worse)
so far candy sticks seem to distract her for a while.
As for my husband, last thing he said this morning before going to work was "why can't human females be like that???" *sigh*

Ahhh yes, I remember those times with one of my kitties.
She (princess) drove me crazy and went walkabouts after I finally gave in and set her free.
Few months later she had 1 kitten, now called squidge!
The dad of the kitten was a big Ginger Tom from the next farmhouse over yonder.
Just had the 1.....she's SO smart and probably knew that any more would have been given away.
So..brother, sister and daughter of the sister. 3 plus me.
ALL now without the bits to make our family any bigger. (I still have mine but never use them..lol).
Good luck, and next time (spring?).....be prepared.

Ahh one of natures things
Not too much you can do until you have her neutered and she may come in to heat every 2 weeks until that happens, Its uncomfortable for her too, Vet
can give shots to help ease the process but there's really not alot out there,
I would suggest if possible confining her to 1 room for the moment,
Something i tried that helped calm my female kitty was a plug in called "Feliway" so have a look out for that,
Do you have any friends with a neautered boy cat? lol That may help give her a little release?
Good luck!!! I have brought a good few female kittys up, Get her "done" as soon as you can,

Sorry, that is kinda funny.
But I am not sure guys would really appreciate the howling.
sorry dear, there is nothing you can do about a female in heat. But since it is first heat, it shouldn't last more then a few days. Just get her
fixed soon. The longer they go, the longer the heats get.
There really is nothing more annoying, but just realize that it is actually to the point of being painful.

Actually a neutered boy cat may not be a bad idea.

Except they can sometimes show absolutely no interest in the female.
Can't blame them...I think I'd be the same if I'd had my grillocks removed!
A good vet can satisfy a female cat in heat with a probe to simulate copulation and bring about an early end to her arousal by making her (body) think
the natural act has been completed.
Bit like a dildo for a cat.

You could of course be right. But many animals, with special emphasis on those we "domesticate" suffer from the same psycological problems that we
do.

Sounds like she might be part Siamese... Is she black? That's a genetic trait of Siamese mixes. They're SO loud and insistent! But I've got to
sympathize, because I've been there. I don't think there's anything to do, unfortunately. I remember those nights... Ugh! Sorry...

No she's not siamese, she's white/grey with a weird 'face'.
I rescued her when she was 3 weeks old and very sick. Spend the next 2 weeks going to the vet with her every day to have fluid injected under the skin
to keep her hydrated... and set my allarm clock to go off every two hours to give her more fluids and liquid food with a bottle.
We think that because of her sickness that young something is mentally wrong with her. She has no balance at all, always falls down from things, she
always whines because she wants to crawl up in my neck and nibble on my cloths,...she stayed rather small and keeps behaving like a litte kitten. Not
at all like other cats behave. That's what makes this heat-thing so weird on her, lol.
We'll have her fixed next month.. don't want another round of this
