Thank you! Some things never change. One makes me all giggly, and the other can still make me weep.

Thank you darlin' Spira!

What a spectacle this must have been to see in person!

you can only feel that kind of sound in person

I never saw this one - I know it says it's the 10th anniversary - do you know any more about it?

I was almost afraid to see that one

looked pretty grim - and I wasn't in the mood for grim when it was out

think I have to see it now - even if for the sets/cinematography alone

also - just re-watched your other two...

'stay on your own note man'

Eureka, Spira!

I'm having a showgasm with this thread.

Let's see...hmmmmm....Jesus Christ Superstar.... favorite songs to sing during Holy Week. Oh, Sound of Music....my apologies to any fellow backpackers who saw/heard me sing ala Julie Andrews scene from movie as I stopped in the middle of a mountain meadow....at least it kept the bears away....

There was a time 40 years ago when it seemed every high school drama dept was putting on Bye Bye Birdie.

Give me a box of tissues for Puccini's Madame Butterfly....Un Bel Di till the finale. La Boheme, too.

Tommy. Film...from the 70's? Loved the album.

I do value my sanity - but I'm done trying to protect it - it's on it's own

Town guy. 1/2 sec. TV "In Plain Site" homeless guy this week.

:-) will have to wait until the clip shows up on the internet...

so - Sean Penn plays his own guitar? Couldn't find anything about whether he played before this movie - or if he learned just for the part. I read he had coaching for this - had to go look it up.

I think I must have skipped the year 1999 somehow - I don't even remember hearing about this one - do you recommend it Mr. Movie?

This Les Miserables 10th anniversary extravaganza is outstanding from start to finish. I'm fortunate to have recently purchased the DVD even though the event took place at London's Royal Albert Hall in 1995.

What makes it so special is that it consists of a dream cast of performers, a chorus of 150 (the folks in the t-shirts), a philharmonic orchestra, and an audience who clearly enjoyed and appreciated the grandeur of this celebratory production.

At the close of the performance, 17 international singers who at one time or another performed the role of Jean Valjean in their native countries were ceremonially marched in took turns singing portions of the song "Do You Hear the People Sing" in their language. It was a touching tribute to those who immortalized the lead role in their respective nation.

It's worth taking in some of the other clips that You Tube has to offer of this spectacle.

Assassins is amazing, sadly enough that is the only youtube vid of the 2004 cast that won a grammy and several tony's. The rest are college or amateur productions that arn't half bad. I GREATLY recommend the 2004 cast soundtrack, if I can find any torrent or rapidshare downloads I will send them your way. (:
