The australian Open unfortunatly has had a bad reputation the last few years with this sort of thing.

with all the racial tensions in australia at the moment, it's a shame to see it spilling over into a sport that we should certainly not think of as being related to violence or racism.

the story seems to point out that the problem was Croation fans here.

Lets hope the authorities can nip this in the butt near the start of the tournament.

I have family members there just now, and it's a bit worrying that they could be caught up in this nonsense.

The headline itself seems a little incorrect, these are groups who like to call themselves Croatians even though they now live in Australia, they still havn't intergrated into the wider community yet.

Did you read past the thread title?

A small group of unruly Croatians.

As pointed out the article title is misleading too.

It has nothing to do with Australians (or anyone else) being racist it has everything to with a group of louts, who happen to be Croatian acting like idiots.

Care to fill us in on all these racial tensions in Australia?

I hope they make a big example of these people. It's because of these types that Australia is in the news for the wrong reasons at the moment.

I'm sure some of the Ozzies on here will surely agree there are Racial Tensions in Australia, as there are everywhere.

Actually, there are not. The KFC ad was not racist, the Croats were not really racist...

So what happens if we do something?
Do we then get accused of being racists against Croatians?

These fools do nothing except bring shame to their own families, given time they will intergrate into the community and call themselves Aussies and leave this rubbish behind them.

There are many Aussies out here who are from all corners of the globe who call themselves Australian, they are the ones who don't sit in a small community but become a part of the larger community, this is what Australian is being about, people meeting and working together reguardless of origin getting together and taking it easy.

A majority of people who call themselves Australian just shake their heads at these fools and wish they would join us instead of trying to be seperate from us, one thing is true however, these actions would not be stood for in their country of origin.

I agree and understand what you are saying. these fools need to be caught red handed and made an example of though. as it says in the story, the other Croations were sickened by this behaviour.
