ATS should shut itself down.

I realized very shortly after joining that ATS is mostly an exercise in internet panic.

Some people here research things seriously. Most have the views the O.P. mentioned. If you think ATS is a place to "get something done", you would be a fool. In fact there are rarely any internet based sites that "get something done".

Caring to much about an internet site is foolish. It's really all irrelevant noise in the end. Just mouths (fingers) spouting off an endless supply of opinions and perceptions (just like I'm doing now).

It means almost NOTHING.

I'm convinced there is no such thing as internet "activism". That it is all noise is a vast ocean of crap. "Conspiracy" based sites should be looked on as nothing more than entertainment. Especially this site. From most of the posts I've seen that hit the Home Page, I can determine this is not an information clearinghouse type of joint.

If you expect something more, you're setting yourself up for disappointment.

If ATS doesn't take itself seriously, why should you?

I think your problem is with th people that frequent this site and not the site itself. People are the problem. They always have been and we are people so we ate the problem. You can't change the world. It's. Dirty ugly place but it has it's moments of beauty, lately I haven't seen much but it's still there. Don't let the world get the eat o you. It doesn't care if your happy or unhappy it keeps rolling on. So just relax I k ow it's frustrating.

There is a really good saying about not taking life too seriously nobody gets out of it alive.

I think I limited open registration each month would keep out some of these hooligans. People would watch what they say at the risk of being banned and unable to instantly re-create an account.

I wonder how many members join because they stroll across this site for whatever reason and decide just to piss people off and point fun, with no concern of being banned.

ATS is about the only real new source your going to find that is fair and balance (not FOX news). Not everything you read is going to be the truth and not everyone opinions is going to matter! But the news is here and for the most part the infomation you see will keep you aware of what may be ahead down the road. The mainstream media is not going to lookout for the people who can see the road, they're going to guide the blind where the light don't shine and I certainly don't want that. For the most part if you don't like or agree what is being said, there is that little "x" button on the top right-hand screen just "click it".

If you don't like it then just go.

Maybe I'm looking at it through rose-colored lenses, but this place seems to have really gone down hill.


I think if someone has shown themselves to be moronically idiotic, they should be banned. End of story. Some of the people who "contribute" here are doing more harm than good, and it's damaging the entire community, not just the threads they post in. Some of our more intelligent members seem to be posting less, average users are lowering their standards, and moronic dumb-dumbs are getting away with stirring up controversy, derailing threads, and polluting the boards with unpunctuated, misspelled walls of text.

It's becoming a systemic problem, not just some inconvenience that one can avoid.

ATS has changed. The "Mods" are mostly fundamentalist christians and clueless as to what is really going on.

Deleting posts that are significant, altering posts that go against "the grain".

How could closing down ATS further any worthwhile pursuits in intellectualism?
Then again, I would at least like to know what we have accomplished,

I disagree entirely I recently posted a thread about Liberalism having gone completely full circle and having become everything it once stood against.

And this is a perfect example... saying people should be banned for their beliefs, control of speech, control of thought control of everything...

Should ever be banned in here or in the world because you or I disagree with them...

Because in the end there is no Right and Wrong just belief in most topics...particularly politics and religion and life style

When you start banning people because you don't like what they have to say you have become something terrible on a very deep fundamental level.

Some of the people posting on this thread just want the people who disagree with them censored. I have found that will only lead them to delusions that all people agree with them. They care not a bit about this websight or other people ,they are not here to collect paranormal stories or give them. They are always shocked that the viewpoints they hold sacred are not accepted by people. They are only here to judge others using themselves as a yardstick. Do not follow advise from selfish people.

There could be a system put in place to keep out all of the complete garbage posts and threads.

There's two kinds of "free speech." There's the kind where somebody uses a spell check, makes their post clean and coherent, and expresses an idea or argument relevant to the topic...

...Then there's the kind that go something like this:

"I don't know y ud want to socialism in the united states. were not russia or nething. thats stupid. ur stupid. i like turtles. stop beeng so stupid. but i guess u cant tho, cawse ur stupid."

Okay, a little hyperbolic, but honest to god some posts are like that.

A wise man once said 95% of everything is crap. The process of weeding out is a tedious one. I usually stick to the topics that interest me. What I find more disturbing is the cult of celebrity that has invaded ATS.But that's what happens when you become mainstreamed. Censorship though is never a good answer. We get enough of that from TPTB.

I noticed all of these "ats is racist," "ats is christian" nonsense accusations sprout up more and more as ats started to veer away from conspiracies that the establishment likes ie Bigfoot, Stargates, Alien.

TPTB love it when we talk about stuff we can't prove with readily available evidence they love it when we talk about shadow people or the afterlife BUT they hate it when we talk about the vaccines, martial law or gov't corruption. They were ok with 9/11 as long as most people believed the official story but now even on this site no one believes the official story anymore so now 9/11 is a bad topic for TPTB.

Provocateurs and the like can try and kill the site but it won't work even if this site goes down 10 more will pop up, the truth is out and all the accusation in the world won't put the genie back in the bottle. We don't care about Bigfoot anymore we have bigger fish to fry.

As for the Christian issue that one makes me laugh the most because Atheism is all the rage online atm but i have noticed a shift. It is like anything, if something is forced on you aggressively you push it away. This is how it is looking with Atheism. I am not Christian but i sure as hell am not an Atheist.

Freedom of religion, and i have never in any post here ever talked bad about any faith because it is not necessary so how would you even recognize that a mod was christian unless you were making fun of Christians and he/she removed your post.

I hear you. We do seem to have a lot more of, may I say, energetic but unhelpful posters recently. Sure, its great when some earth shattering news comes across the net! I want to meet the aliens that look like us too!. I want my flying car already, just like you!!! However, we must exorcise some restraint to posting when you only have one line and no links to any data for the rest of us to read. Hold your reactions until we get to the bottom of whatever our group collective here can muster up. I ask this please, please with sugar on top and big yummy cherry! :-)
