Toyota's problems.............

There was enough cases to case a 3.8 million car recall.

The issue, the driver's side floor mat may break it's restraint and lodge the accelerator on full and cause crash's.

To make matters worse, these cars have keyless ignition.

You push a button on the dash to start the car.

To stop the car you hold the start button in for 3 seconds-no key to turn off.

Toyota's resolution is to remove the driver's side mat.

Not replace it
Not compensate owners for it.

Just remove it and get your carpet dirty.

I've been wondering why the driver of that runaway car didn't just turn off the engine.

Was it because of the keyless ignition?

How is the engine turned off?

With cars like that, the way to shut off the car is to hold the start button in for about 3 seconds.

I never knew that, though I have not driven a keyless ignition car.

Since the published case was for a rental car, it seems to me the rental company needed to tell it's customers exactly how to start and shut down the car.

It would also do toyota dealerships well to make certain it's customers are very clear on how to start and shut off the car.

I guess someone forgot that the first thing to learn when learning to operate any machine is how to turn the damn thing off.

I've been wondering why he just didn't drop it into neutral.
