The Piratebay Back Home

The Piratebay Back Home

torrentfreak.com

It looks like The Piratebay is back home again. The Piratebay had to move because the Swedish police raided their servers. But, after a short stay in The Netherlands the torrent tracker returned to their provider “PRQ” in Sweden.

At least, that’s what the ip info tells us.

Another point of interest is the “reverse DNS” that sends out a clear message to the MPAA and their friends:

hey.mpaa.and.apb.bite.my.shiny.metal.ass.thepiratebay.org.

The topic of file sharing is a controversial one and I personally think that it should be allowed. For those that don't know, ThePirateBay is one of the largest torrent trackers on the web. The founders were told to shut down and slapped with a 1 year sentence plus a $3.6 million fine.

They have been jumping ISP's and were shut down for a period yesterday. Looks like they are back.

Shutting down a torrent tracker will NOT put even a small dent in the volume of file sharing done on the internet. Even if they successfully shut TPB down indefinitely, there are many other trackers and new ones will sprout up.

Thoughts?

The fight is not about piracy, its about control of the internet.

Dont worry, these guys are not going anywhere despite biased judges and illegal crackdowns. They have no official assets so the media business can sue them all they want.

I agree. You can shut TPB down but another P2P will crop up and people will use that. I am so glad that the owners of the TPB are defiant against these money-grabbing capitalist corporations.
If they priced there merchandise reasonably, i suspect we would see a drop in the amount of file-sharing that takes place.
If there is one battle that the people need to win this is one of them.

Reasonable prices or no deal.

Go Pirate Bay, woooo.

They should put up a few extra servers in dense jungle and the heart of Siberia, too.

Think for a moment.
While I am all about "YAY!! PIRATE BAY!!"
I am also all about the following.
You are doing something wrong, according to the standards society imposes.
You get "Pinched".
The next thing everyone knows is that you are back to business as usual.
What is wrong with that scenario?
What has changed?
Not only do they know your business, they allow you to carry on and see who you associate with.
Known 5.0 tactic.

Be wary, if you conduct any business with P>B>, is all I'm saying.
This is all about business, don't fool yourself into thinking otherwise.
The business of control.
