ATS member art; Got Paint?

<<  1    2    3  >>

Topic started on 7-6-2009 @ 08:30 PM by seagrass

I found the photography of members at ATS thread and thought perhaps there may be some of those with paint under their fingernails as well? Maybe some clay?
I love to paint... I am not very good at it.. but I love doing it.

Here is my most recent attempt... also on MATS

This is a new hobby I picked up this month. Needle Felting. This was my first attempt.. so needless to say.. it is pretty easy to do. I really like doing it.

It's like mini-voodoo.

Nope! I couldn't draw a stick figure at gun point.

Which makes me more in awe with people who can do what you do!

I can do little pencil or charcoal drawings and some[poorly done] porcelain sculpting. That's it.

Really good work. I just love that bird you painted.

you do very nice digital work though Ashley

which means - as far as I'm concerned - it's just practice

you could draw if you wanted to I'm thinking :-)

I was really hoping you would put some of yours up Spira. Especially that kitchen color that has me so intrigued.
Ashley, I bet you do some beautiful work with those hobbies.. Can we see some pics of them ? It doesn't have to be about paint.

I would love to be able to live the artist's life. And the word 'studio' makes me giddy. But like I have said.. I am an amateur...

Learning as I go. Thanks for the thumbs up. It makes me feel good about it knowing you are one of my artistic peers.

I really don't have anything on the computer but I did do some artwork for tinwiki. Please don't laugh. I know it's amateur compared to you guys.

Phoenix. Done with colored pencils then tweaked on photoshop by adding a gradient background and cross hatch strokes:
files.abovetopsecret.com...

Mothman. Done with charcoals and smudged with my fingers then tweaked on Photoshop to make the eyes glow and mirrored it so it would be more symmetrical than what I made before scanning:
files.abovetopsecret.com...

Owlman. My first piece for Tin Wiki. Done with a pen then colored in with colored pencils.
files.abovetopsecret.com...

That's really all I have online. So just little stuff with pens, colored pencils, and charcoal. There is no way I could do what you do with paint and brushes!

And even the above I had to do image searches to be inspired somehow. Just dreaming something up and running with it doesn't happen. lol

Those are fantastic Ashley!. I love Mothman. And the Phoenix is wonderful too.
I do more childish type stuff. Love kid art for some reason. I like the simplicity of the symbolism. Scrapbooking and card making...cutesy type stuff.

We all get our inspirations from someone or somewhere else. It is the expression of each persons perception that makes art so interesting to me. Like when I walk through the school halls full of say... penguins... and each child has a different version.. I love it.

I would call you a liar - if I knew you'd understand that I meant it to be funny :-)

why do we get so shy when it comes to art? It is strange to me.
And I have always wondered why people put their "good china" in a cupboard and never use it. Put the good things "away". Art should be seen. It's what it's for.

How fun! My mother is really into scrap booking and card making. She's the family artist so she also does sculpting, glass work, paintings, etc.

Hey now. I did say the above:

I can do little pencil or charcoal drawings and some[poorly done] porcelain sculpting. That's it.

But I could never do painting like Seagrass. I really marvel at those who can.
