Juts saw this on the news and thought it was excellent.

What a great dog.
The determination and protective instinct of this dog is just amazing.

yeah, I saw that in the morning yesterday and then today they had the follow up. I was in tears yesterday over it. Today they had good news about the mommy so I was happy. I have an intense love for dogs. I love my dogs more than anything, they are literally my kids. I am extremely hypersensitive when it comes to animal stuff, particularly canine~~~

That's a wonderful story Blup. I'm gonna go and give my German Shepherd the biggest cuddle imaginable....xxxx

What a sweet story! Bless their hearts. The only thing that bothered me was at the very end when the newscaster urged viewers to get their pets chipped. lol But other than that, the story put a huge smile on my face.

But where is the story? I did a search and didn't see this an hour ago when I then went and made a thread on it. Ashley I know you said you moved my thread, but it doesn't show up at all, not even in my personal thread list. And this thread has no story?

I am ashamed to admit that my dogs are micro-chipped. I did it back in 2004 before I became overtly paranoid about everything, lol. I was volunteering at the Humane Society. At that time, I thought it was a great idea because you would always be able to find your (missing) pet should it turn up in a shelter or even a vet's office. It was a relatively new technology then and those in the pet biz were very excited and supportive of it. The micro-chip technology used in pets (at that time) goes like this from what I remember....
The chip itself (that we had) was smaller than a grain of rice and it was injected under the skin. Once the critter was chipped, you received a special tag for them to wear and you also were supposed to fill out a form to have them registered in a national computer data base. The reason for registering them obviously was that so if they turned up, they could be scanned and your data would show up, thereby enabling them to contact the owner, etc, etc. I imagine it's pretty much the same today.
Knowing what I know now, I will not have any new pets chipped. I'm just not comfortable with it. So far it hasn't been a problem but my views have changed dramatically over the last 5 years and the whole concept just kind of freaks me out.

Just shows how strong a bond love can be whether it's related to dogs or humans.
I know I would die, kill, whatever it took to protect my daughter , and it's obviously the same with other species.

Great story blups! A refreshing change to see a good news story on the board! We should have a forum dedicated to this kind of thing. It would certainly make it easier to find if all the good news was in one easy-to-find area!

It's hard to pinpoint exactly what changed my feelings about the micro-chipping thing. I give alot more thought to things now than I used to, so naturally I question the long term effects of such a device....and also, the motives behind it. I mean, when the thing came out, no one was discussing people being chipped and tracked! It just seemed like a good safeguard should a pet go missing. I am just not comfortable with a foreign body being implanted in my pets, myself or any loved one for that matter. As I mentioned, I haven't noticed any negative effects in my dogs by having it there. I just think the deteriorating condition of the world over the past few years has just made me a more suspicious personal in general. I feel about my dogs the way people feel about their children.

I know.... lovely huh?

And YES!

We need a "mushy forum" or "feel good factor forum"
