Yikes. my MSI motherboard just failed. It is a P7N-SLI.(It was purchased in Jamuary09)
I purchased a Asus P5Q to keep going while I start the RMA process.
I went to the MSi site and filled out an "online" RMA request.
They sat it takes 48 hours to respond by Email-"NOT INCLUDING SATURDAY OR SUNDAY"
(This was done on 4/6/09, a Sunday)
I will post information as it occurs.
I will post when they reply as well as any issues and or instruction the present.

You had better hope that the P5Q doesn't need an RMA as well. A buddy of mine just RMA's his. What a nightmare. He has to pay to ship it to them,
then they have 6-8 weeks to respond and tell him whether or not they think it is his fault. Paying for shipping sucks but is understandable, but 6-8
weeks??? That is just ridiculous. Who is going to wait 6-8 weeks with no mobo?

Well, this morning , I recieved a reply.
It was a RMA # and a clear set of instructions to follow.
I will be responsible for shipping there, but they pay for shipping back.
Lucky for me, the location is only 50-60 miles away. so UPS ground should take one day to get there.
*As a side note, I found that that model has been discontinued!
I still expect it to be repaired and or replaced.
If it needs to be replaced and they don't have anymore, I expect to recieve the new model or the next model "UP".
When I package it and ship it, I will post the UPS ground shipping cost as well as note the date I shipped it to them.
I will continue to post all communications and experiences as this goes on.
For what it's worth, they "DID" respond "Well" within the 48 hours starting from Monday (today).

This morning I received an Email conformation that MSI received my motherboard for RMA.
Next notification should be we fixed your motherboard
or
we are sending you a new one-no longer available in stores or one level up, as they have.

OK...
This morning, the tracking number seems to be working.
It is indicated that it was load at a center about 50 miles from home.
(An interesting note, it is 50 miles in the opposite direction of where it was rma'd)
It indicates left center about 7 am this morning with a delivery date of today.
still no indication if fixed/replaced or subbed.

OK, it arrived.
It is clearly the same model and equally clear it is not the same board I sent them.
"IMO" it is a repaired unit, it's condition is...less pristine than the one I sent them.

LOL
Welcome to rmaHELL
When you end up buying a "dog" and you need to RMA, something it....If you work in the industry... always RMA under your company name.
No matter what
Most people when they RMA think there going to get the trade up option it doesn't happen as much as people hope.
I always wait when new versions of STUFF comes out so that I can let other people deal with the problems and I can RMA vicariously through them.
Because of this I rarely have to RMA personally.
