At least that's what some friends call me...

They saw a couple of my poems that I write and dubbed me after the great one. Technically I guess it's not too fitting, seeing as how I've never written a play in my life, nor do I have much incentive to.

I thought I'd share my "literary genius," as my friends call it, with people here. Give me your best shot. And if by some chance anyone wants more (I don't know why you would, they're not too good) I'll post another at request.

I wrote this while I was in a kind of confused part of a relationship.

Everyone has their views
But that’s not what matters
Sometimes things change
And then the image shatters

There's nothing important
In what others have to say
All I want to hear
Is how you feel today

What I really care about
I’ve come to realize
Is what I mean to you
Who am I in your eyes?

Am I just a friend?
Are we tight to the core?
Or am I something else?
Could I be something more?

It hasn’t been very long
Since you and I first met
But I know meeting you
Is something I’ll never regret

I need to know the truth
Nothing can hurt but lies
I really need to know
Who am I in your eyes?

Ok I am a huge Shakespeare fan. I wouldnt say you are like Shakespeare but I am not saying your poem is bad. I actually liked it. I would like to see more though. Maybe if you post more of your work I could maybe see why your friends call you Shakespeare.

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that I'm like Shakespeare. I'm not that naive. I was just saying that's my nickname from my friends.

Here's another...don't get your hopes up, they go downhill from the first one. Plus they're pretty short

You say you're not worth the wait
I should just move on
Past events cloud your mind
But I'll show you the dawn

Tomorrow's always a brighter day
Haha...I should know
But it would be even better
If you could let your heart go

Cause I'll be there to catch it
I'll keep it safe and warm
I'll keep it nice and sheltered
Even through the toughest storm

You'll never be hurt like you were before
That stuff's just not right
All in all I want you to know
I'll be thinking of you tonight

Yeah after I posted that I got what they were saying. Sorry, I'm on nyquil, darn colds!

This one isnt bad at all. I like this one too. I cant write poetry to save my life! I love poems about love. I am a hopeless romantic I guess. If you are writing about a certain someone you should let her see them. I would love it if a guy did this! I had a guy write me a song once and it was amazing and the sweetest thing ever.

Haha, funny thing is, even though its not that funny, she did read the poems. She said they were good, but thought I was taking things too seriously. Just proves my worthlessness at relationships I guess.

Here's one I wrote while struggling to get over the loss

Grandma used to help me with my puzzles
I didn’t know what to do when she was gone
Some people might dwell on it for ages
But I picked up the pieces and moved on

Helping dad cut grass on the weekend
Didn’t see the cell phone in the lawn
I could have cried about it in secret
But instead I picked up the pieces and moved on

Some people give their hearts away too fast
Of those people I’ll admit I’m one
But when there’s nothing there to receive the heart
You have to pick up the pieces and move on

That one is good too. I like poetry because IMO there cant be a bad one. It's someones person feelings and how can that be bad? I personally write in journals to deal with things where some write poetry. I look back at them from years ago and laugh at how I acted at certain things.
I noticed in another post your age. I am 30 dont worry you are still young and I can assure you you are not worthless in relationships. You will find someone who appreciates all that you do for them. I had my first relationship at 16 and when it ended I thought the world was over so I know how you felt or may still feel. I am 30 and have been through my fair share of relationships dont worry that one person is out there for you.
I did write one poem in HS for my bf and it was entered in a contest and I won and I had to read it infront of the whole school. Now that was embarrassing!

Thats awesome, do you have it still? You should post it here.

Ironic how you said something about one being out there for me. I happen to have a poem about that.

People always say there’s a lot of fish in the sea
I understand the expression but I think, honestly
When all’s said and done, lock the door, lose the key
There’s only one fish in the blue for me
Sometimes I’m anxious, and I wonder, “Can it be?”
Or am I searching blind, like a dog barks up a tree?
But this I know for certain, just like A B C
There’s only one fish in the blue for me
Sometimes you hook one, and fight valiantly
Only to lose it to the current, unfortunately
Other times you throw it back, unhappy with what you see
There’s only one fish in the blue for me
Fishing takes talent, and someday hopefully
I’ll have the skill it takes to find one that’s worthy
And then I’ll know, within me, suddenly
This is the fish in the blue that’s for me

Wow that is weird. I like this one a lot too. Have you ever entered poetry contests? My friends enters poems on poetry.com all the time. Some have been published too. She has won some money too.
I might have it somewhere in my storage unit but I doubt it. I use to be able to remember it but that was almost 15 years ago!
