Here is the first instance of it being
mentioned... www.abovetopsecret.com...
Why? Because I've been watching this guy get throat cut enough and I'm feeling extremely sick... I shouldn't have to look at that according to
this thread that "Reemphasizes" the T&C. I'm not the only one who is complaining. So, going by statistics if five or so complain within a
certain time I believe that would indicate a certain HIGH percentage of the population would then find this to be offensive. Nothing personal and no
vendettas. I just don't understand your lack of interest at addressing this immediately.
How many have turned off ATS because of this GORE and MUTILATION being splashed across 95% of their ATS windows that open ?
Imagine this as a complaint against someone who has posted a SNUFF film trailer. Is this OK?
You don't have to respond. I understand your busy... enforcing the policies as stated in this
thread....

Only SO can do it, and that's how it will be. So far the way we've been doing it has been working well. There is bound to slip through one or two
bad apples through the cracks, but they're scattered far and wide apart.

Anyone?
The ship is sinking? Yes, the ad upsets a couple of folks. Yes, the ad isn't what we want on ATS. Yes, the ad is against the T&C. But surely one ad
isn't the downfall of ATS? If each and every ad were blood, gore, porn and what not, I can see how people would not want to visit ATS anymore. BUT it
isn't.
One distasteful ad made its appearance. It will be taken care of in good time. Surely you can't expect someone to sit and watch the screen for "bad
ads" 24/7? If distasteful ads were a constant problem, I would agree. But it isn't.

Mods can edit posts, they just can't remove ads - only SO has access to such things (for security purposes I would assume.)
I agree that war is atrocious...but shoving it down peoples throats isn't a valid answer...in my opinion.
My point is that there is no point cramming the images down the throats of people who will do nothing.
Both of these are common colloquialisms. Surely you've heard these expressions used before.
but what about that horrible ad, of the movie mirrors, every time I sign on I have to watch this guy slit his throat.
This is someone complaining about the same ad you are. Give SO a chance to get it.
Can you not see that the AD is having an effect on people?
Other than their wanting it removed? No. I think you are making a mountain out of a molehill here.
Sound the alarm and wake up the captain. Surely someone within your current management can make an ethical sound business decision.
Anyone?
Why is this such an issue for you? It's an ad for a movie that slipped through the filter... it happens. You're way over the top here (imo).

Are my time-stamps messed up; the complaint is only about two hours old! I demand service and I demand it now damnit! lol

(edit 2)Doh! I see the date now. The most recent complaint about this in the 'hitlist' thread is only a couple hours old. Apologies,
AllTiedTogether, your link was in GMT so I went to the 'hitlist' thread to find the time/date for my zone (to make sure) and didn't notice it was a
different post. :slaps forehead:

I agree. What are we trying to do here, hide the truth? Water it down? Sanitize it? Paint it with only pretty cute pictures? If someone can't handle
the truth, can't handle what humans are doing, they should stay off the internet, turn off their boob tubes and radios, and close their eyes and
cover their ears. We are all adults and adults should be able to handle the truth and the real world.

Thanks for pointing to the first occurrence of the "Mirror" ad. It was removed backed then, and I'm sure it will be removed again.

I disagree. If I wasn't interested I wouldn't have been addressing the issue as I'm doing right now. All I'm saying is - Yes, it shouldn't be up
on ATS. It will be taken care of. Just not right now.

You don't think like a Supervisor... how many are currently logged in right now on ATS??? All those people are currently watching the screen for
"bad ads" 24/7. That's what the ALERT button is for and the reason you put out this reminder.. right?
Does something have to be a constant problem before ATS does something? Isn't 24/7 constant enough?
Please don't respond back... It is just not logical what you are saying and I wouldn't want you to say anything that may jeopardize your jobs...
Thanks for your assistance in this incident...

I've addressed your concerns. You refuse to take the facts to heart. I'll say it again - the ad will be addressed. It would be a pity that you would
want to dish ATS because of one temporary bad apple - which is irrelevant to ATS' content.
The irony of the whole issue is that these marketing people (Mirror's marketing people) have done exactly what they wanted to do. They got you
talking about their movie.
It's become clear that you have an axe to grind. The moment you started insulting me and the volunteer work I do you revealed that this really isn't
about the ad. I suggest you use the complaints feature in your MemCenter
and raise the issues you really have with ATS/the staff.

Boohoo. Tell it to my proxy server manufacturer support website that maintains the list of ad and spam websites. Thing is, I find ads, that try to
sell me junk I'm never interested in anyhow, offensive. Hey, to each their own.

When you see this Ad on TV, do you call up the maker of your TV set and complain?
Did you write a letter to:
20th Century Fox, the US distributor?
Regency Enterprises/New Regency?
Email:
www.mpaa.org?
www.filmratings.com?
www.parentalguide.org?
How about
Castel Film Romania?
...because ALL of those people have more comprehensive control than ATS.
In addition, I was able to click the pause button before any images came up, and if you're really resourceful, you can size a small window from
another application like notepad.com and slide it over the image.
YOU'RE just NOT TRYING, good buddy.
But since we're actioning it now, any more complaints about it in THIS thread will be removed. Hope that helps from derailing the thread.

Thank you Gem. You answered the question. This is part of the publicity. Put up the subject of GORE and MUTILATION and then have an ad that is
publicly viewed on this very subject thread. And leave it up for a couple of days for it to sink in.
Problem is buddy that the link I provided to an earlier post is probably one of hundreds of people who have been affected.
If you doubt that this is bad then I ask any of you with small children to let your child watch this AD run a few times. Don't really do it....
just hoping some might see the reality in this. So, it appears that for promotional purposes of this movie we have to be subjected to this violation
of ATS policy? Blatant violation of ATS policy!
Sorry, but you responded back.... Had to respond to the last one you sent eh!

You're insinuating that we intentionally put up the ad? And intentionally leaving it up for some time? You're accusing ATS because the "Mirror"
marketers are doing their job? Have you read THIS POST? Just checking.

No we're not. We strive to be a family-friendly site. That's why we have language censors to prevent bad language. That's why we don't have a
button on the home page that says "Yes, I'm 18, let me in". We want to accommodate our younger and sensitive members as well. My mother faints at
the sight of blood. Should her sensitivity prevent her from having the same benefits as you, i.e. freely and safely browse ATS?

Interesting! From that link
Second, whenever we have received ad dollars from specific advertisers (Paramount Pictures, Sumo Lounge, A&E Television) we've been up-front and
transparent about who they are and what the ads are for. Also, we've always audited their ads to ensure their ad technology and landing-page
processes are compatible with our own privacy policies.
If you check to ensure their Ad technology and landing-page processes are compatible with your policies then why don't you have someone look at the
AD making sure it matches your own subject matter allowances, mentioned at the head of this thread.
I believe I saw about seven or more mention this GORY MUTILATING movie trailor.
Just responding... don't want to be impolite...

Oh my Lord....you need to relax.
I was one of the people who complained about the first Mirrors ad and this morning i posted about the second one in the Ad Hitlist thread. I've done
my job, now i will leave it to S.O, who will deal with it.
Until then, i will try to ignore it.
Whats the big deal. One ad slipped through. It's been complained about, and it will be dealt with when S.O gets the time.
I agree with Gemwolf, you seem to have other motives in stirring all this up.

I found the humongous oozing 'biggest zit ever' on the back of a man's head, posted today in the yellowstone thread offensive. It was unnecessary
and made me feel sick! It was supposed to be humorous, but it just wasn't funny. It was the fact the image was also so large, that you couldn't
avoid seeing it. He/she should have just put a link to it instead. It was gross.
Thankyou

Seeing that SO is the most knowledgeable on the subject, I'll leave it up to him to respond.
While you wait for him to wake up (I mean what's he thinking sleeping this much? ) you are welcome to read a couple of threads on advertising on
ATS.
Examples:
Thread 2
Thread 1
General
More
You should have enough time to make quite a collection of questions.
