Who is your favourite hero?

<<  1    2  >>

Topic started on 7-10-2008 @ 12:48 PM by PeaceUk

In this thread, let's cut straight to it.
We're not talking about the most powerful hero here, the most popular, or anything like that, I want to here who is your favourite, no matter who it is.
Why do you like them?
Do you relate to them?
Why are they appealing to you?

They can be absolutely anyone either from the comic book universe or not.

So lets go!

... One of my favorite heroes in SF is Jorj X Mckie from the

Frank Herbert SF novels Whipping Star , The Dorsadi

Experiment
, and the novella The Tactful Saboteur

I admire this character because of his skills and mental attributes...

even if his discription isn't photogenic...like a Hollywood star....

My hero is a real person.

Rick Roberts...

An old boss of mine that convinced me of my selfworth, and gave me the ability to tackle any task or problem with determination and confidence; that included approaching beautiful women and asking for a date.

His advice...."What's the worst that can happen" "She say's no" "so...."

Bless your heart Rick, where ever you are!!

Ted Williams. All my life I've loved the game of baseball. This man was the greatest hitter, and in my opinion, the greatest player who ever lived. He was able to see the seams of the baseball leave the pitcher's hand... i mean how sick is that? He knew where his ball was going to land, before he hit it. Once, the press was on his back, so during a game he purposely hit a foul-ball up into the press-box....how disgusting is that? He was able to direct even a foul-ball. He knew the game better than anyone who ever played it, and he was good at it. He was the best, and that's all there is to it.

I always liked Rogue and Gambit. They are my favorite. I always liked the old Rogue in the comics. Just like their story line much better than what they have put in the movie. Maybe they will put in the movies how Rogue got her other powers. I do not like her much now. Like the movies but not how they do some of the story lines.

My favorite would have to be Green Lantern. With that power ring, he could do anything.

Runner ups are: the Flash, KidFlash, Batman, the Red Tornado and the Atom.

Mine is Captain America
Was a kid who was rejected and wasn't the most athletically gifted, but was the most patriotic and unwavering in his beliefs. Even with facing being rejected he found away to be apart of it by under going the Super Soldier program. With that he took up a mantle of truth, justice, democracy and most of all freedom. These weren't just idol words to him, they were the bulwarks upon which he lived his life. If I could even have a tenth dedication the Cap had, I would be able to lick any challenge set before me.

Captain America when it comes to comics, no contest.
He represented, to me at least, all that a person could and should be.
honest, loyal, willing and able to help others regardless of personal cost, and able to turn a enemy into a friend. He inspired and lead people to empower themselves, teaching people to become better than they were. Can't ask for a better fictional hero than that.

True to life hero... would be my Grandfather. he was a quiet, humble man who would help others without boasting, share a laugh, and lived the life of a farmer, and was happy with what he had.
he lived a good life, and was a good man, a good father, and a great grandfather. If I do no better than fill his shadow, i'll consider myself a good man.

Dom DeLuise is a comic genius. His scene with the Coke Machine in Mel Brooks' "Silent Movie" is a riot.

One of my favorites is the little appreciated The Tick, and Mad Man. The comic books are quirky, the both the cartoon and live action versions of The Tick are great.

Hard to say really...

I've always been incredibly partial to The Punisher.

If not him, it would either be Batman or The Incredible Hulk.

So hero's are comic book characters. No one has mentioned their own
father, just 1 grandfather and one employer and one pop star. Something's just not right here!!

Is the fantasy world more real than real life?

As a student of contemporary culture....just askin....

The OP said it could be ANYONE.

I would have to say my Father for raising me, teaching me respect and a passion to get things done. He always told me to finish what you started and be passionate about it. For his love for me, his wonderful attitude and kindness. He passed on to the next journey and I miss him dearly. I always looked up to him and admired his ability to make people laugh/smile. I'm now walking in my fathers footsteps and raising six kids with my beautiful wife. I make my kids smile & laugh all the time and I'm teaching them to have respect, passion and self confidence.

Thanks Dad for loving me.

...Unfortunately, in the real world, heroes are often flawed...

seriously, at that... O.J. Simpson is just one example...

Years ago, before "The Trial of the Century" he was one of the

greatest running backs ever... And now, "how the mighty have fallen"...

Fictional characters, on the other hand, by that very nature (fictional)

can be infallible...Idealized...Even indestructible....

That's how I see the situation...

Cheers!
