Avatar removal: An appeal

Topic started on 9-9-2008 @ 07:24 AM by Dirty Vegas

At 11:10 last night I uploaded this avatar to my profile:

*mod edit: removed image*

At 11:13 I made this post:

No, I don't really know what your saying. Be a little more specific. Are you saying we should focus more on what can be proven as real and dispense with the "Krap" posts about things still unproven?

Boy, the Christians are gonna have a field day with this one...

...in this thread:

At 11:23 I got this u2u message:

A member of the forum staff, kinglizard, has removed this avatar from your profile...

Please review this thread:
www.abovetopsecret.com...
Your avatar was removed because it conflicted with the guidelines outlined.
Please select a new avatar.
Thank you.

For additional information from kinglizard, simply respond to this U2U.

At 11:58 KL made this post in the same thread:

This statement is the crux of the problem when replying to the thoughts in th opening post.

You (and others) obviously believe Christianity is not creditable while I and many others believe it is creditable. So what should we do? Who gets to decide what can and cannot be discussed here? I respect your opinion and your right to express it....do you feel the same about my rights?

I read the guidelines for selection of Avatar. Someone please point out the section I am having trouble grasping...

From SPRINGER...

Avatars:

GIF and JPEG file formats only with a maximum dimension of 160 pixels wide, by 320 pixels tall. File sizes are not to exceed 75k, and animated GIF's are allowed. (physical size can extend up to 400 pixels tall for images under 50k in file size)

No profanity. No 3rd party advertising for any website(s).

No images that are similar to, or mimic any official ATS staff, FSME, reward, or other images used by ATS to designate special status without prior permission from me, SkepticOverlord, or Springer.

Erotic, Suggestive, Violent or Illegal Content

ATS and BTS is a diverse community with a mission to help people understand important issues from current events and history. Due to an evolution from women in bathing suits to women wearing less while in suggestive poses that often detracts from the mission, the following content guidelines apply to the content of both avatars and signatures:
1) No photos of persons wearing less than shirt-and-shorts.
2) No artwork (non-photo) of persons wearing less than bathing attire.
3) No persons, or links to persons in a sexually suggestive pose.
5) No persons engaged in what would be considered an obscene gesture.
6) No persons pointing weapons at the viewer of the image.
7) No images or links to images containing blood or gore.
8) No images or links to content containing people involved in an illegal act.
9) No images or links to images containing illegal objects.
10) No images that are taunting in nature toward any person or group of persons.
11) Other content, which at the discretion of forum staff, is designed to be vulgar, obscene, or offensive to the majority of ATS and BTS visitors and members.

Noncompliance:

If you receive a warning from a moderator to alter your signature to comply with the guidelines above, you'll have 24 hours to make the changes. If you don't make the alterations within the reasonable timeframe, the noncompliant material will be deleted from your profile for you.

This pretty much sums it up.

Not to offend or seem contradictory here, but simply put, your avatar is pornographic. You can clearly see areola and nipple action in that picture and that I am afraid is a no no on the boards.

and you do have a point that the moderator that removed your avatar did so himself, while debating you in a thread, it can be construed as a conflict of interest. I am sure that if he had allerted another staff member that your avatar would have been removed just as well.
