“I’m not just going out into the desert, I’m going out into the desert to hunt for lost treasure,” he wrote. “I’m going on a
pilgrimage of sorts, a journey to solitude, to do some thinking, and to pay my respects to the great mysteries.” (visit the link for the

Sounds like he was a pretty deep spiritual being. RIP

I was just in the process of authoring this thread. Very tragic.

While he was obviously on the downslope of his career, this is a life lost much too early.

Sad to hear. Such a terrible way to die. He was a great fighter and I always enjoyed watching him.
It's no surprise he went down with a fight for his life. Anyone who watched his fights knows Tanner had the heart of 5 men.

Evan Tanner was a lion, he was one of my favorites early on and he had some epic battles.
He also had a long battle with alcoholism that almost ended his career. Not to spread rumors but I have heard som speculate that this may have been a
planned suicide, although noone has come forward and confirmed that.
No matter what he was a great champion and a good man, he will be missed.
R.I.P.
