I'm really into these kinds of movies. My favorite so far is contact. I've seen Invasion with Nicole Kidman, Martian Child (I think it's called
martian child) It's not really about aliens, it's about some crazy kid who thinks he's from mars. What are your favorites??? Any that you feel are
genuinely good movies, like contact???

Hmmmm
Ill say I actually liked a movie from the 80s called Enemy mine.
Maybe not exactly what this thread is about but I enjoyed none the less.
However I also liked Contact but the book was far better.
Close encounters of the 3rd kind was not bad, but I think they should do a remake. Steven spielberg just annoys me with his signature films.

Silent Running with those three helper robots. Huey, Dewey, and Loui.
I loved that movie. For a B flick I thought it was great.

The list goes on... Xanadu? Not much of a movie but the soundtrack by E.L.O. is a masterpiece. And E.L.O had a giant spaceship in their live
show, so...

WAVELENGTH(1983)
This was a really creepy film with an awesome conclusion in the Mojave Desert. Does anyone remember this film? It was about this couple who discover
through noises in their head that children are being experimented on at an underground base. They find out audio they were hearing were actually cries
of help from stranded aliens...

I can't believe 2 people list "Fire in the sky" as one of their fave SF movies I thought it was awful!
My faves:
Aliens (I didn't like any of the others in the series).
Indepence Day
MIB (I love Will Smith )
Starman
The last starfighter
Contact
Kay-pax
Starkid
Evolution (all my friends hate this movie After this movie I was removed from the selection panel for movies )
I also loved Martian Child with John and Joan Cusack.
EDIT to add The Abyss to my fave list and to say that I checked John Cusack's bio on IMDB and guess what movie he's working on to be released in
2009? 2012!

Wasn't Andromeda Chain a tv mini-series? Man, I forgot all about that. If my memory serves, it was quite entertaining. I can't remember why I
stopped watching it. I think it was weird scheduling or something.

I have one though Im not sure if it qualifies.
It was a really wierd cartoon about some giant blue aliens that looked at humans as pests and some were kept as pets.
I think it was called fantastic planet.. Not to be confused with forbiddon planet, which I also love!

you just put the two epies together and watch them back to back it is just like a feature length film. Why they split it in two is what I have been
wondering.
