I have to ask... why do you think its NOT special effects or CGI??

If I had the time, which Isn't even a thought, I could probably find many more examples of Nuclear explosions done with CGI that look just as good if not better.

If this were real, I think someone would have noticed all the glowing people as you walk down the street.

You can't be serious can you?

Just stop for a minute and have a think about it.

Why didn't what ever filmed it stop filming the moment of impact?
Why didn't whatever was up at that height fall from the sky at impact?

Since you seem to know a CGI nuclear explosion from a real one you would know there would be one hell of an EMP coming out of that impact..and you know..it kind of kills anything electrical.


But carry on with your assumption....We all know that this nuclear attack was a well kept secret from just YOU, we all knew about it and hoped you would pick up the secret clues we embedded in Hollywood films. Welcome to the club.

if that was the kind of reasoning used here on ATS... there wouldn't be an ATS.

The reason it looks so real is because its supposed to. As technology advances, so does everything around it.

Watch a series of movies spanning over the last 30 years and pay attention to any 'explosions' or catastrophes and you will probably notice a trend of how after each era, the effects get better or more believable.

They call in entertainment, and it works.

So which is it?
You believe they nuked somewhere for the purpose of a film or you don't believe it?

The explosions were CG and the shockwave scenes were mostly good ol'fashioned modeling. You know, they used to actually make physical props/miniatures and blow them up for visual effects. =)
