China is a single race nation, and has little chance to win most of the 28 sports possibly because of the genetic difference. But China may have a chance to win gold count.

they seem to adiment on getting those medals and beating the US
these people have been training their youths for years for this moment
i wouldnt be supprised if they beat the US this year around to the medals, last time it was on a couple medals diffrence

I have to admit that we do remarkably good for a nation with just over 20 million people. If medals were averaged per capita I think we would clearly come out on top

As for most medals, I have to say that the USA and China will be close. Too early to tell at the moment, and the track and field is still to come

Having looked at the total gold medals / all medals won per national population I must say Australia do remarkably well, (no great suprise to me! www.belowtopsecret.com... ) with only Slovakia performing slightly better.

Slovakia 1 gold medal per 1,800,758 (3 gold medals)
Australia 1 gold medal per 1,944,937 (11 gold medals)

Next come;

Denmark 1 gold medal per 2.744,511 (2 gold medals)
Czech Republic 1 gold medal per 5,201,568 (2 gold medals)
Romania 1 gold medal per 5,359,500 (4 gold medals)
Netherlands 1 gold medal per 5,481,667 (3 gold medals)
UK 1 gold medal per 5,507,936 (11 gold medals)

For comparison;
China 1 gold medal per 37,873,743 (35 gold medals)
USA 1 gold medal per 16,046,947 (19 gold medals)

These were based on medals won up to and including Sunday.
