I absolutley hate it when I read a thread and then towards the end you read some posts from people who clearly didnt read the whole thread.
Usually its obvious they didnt, because what they say has either already been brought up, debunked, or just plain doesnt have anything to do with the
thread.
If you cant take the time to read the whole thread then dont post at all.
when you go in a thread and post without reading it first, it makes you look stupid and it detreacts from the thread as a whole.
I see posts like that every now and again and I just want to chew them out.
But I cant because I dont want to get the ban hammer swung in my direction
I have to sit there with my mouth closed and watch a thread go off track.
Read the whole thread or you will end up posting a stupid, pointless nonsensical reply.

What the heck are you talking about? The people here are..... Wait, let me read the complete thread first.....
Oh, Ok, I see what you are talking about. I would agree with you at some points and not on others. As far as the points already brought up, so what if
different people bring up the same point but have a different spin on it.
Me I have no time to be reading 5 pages of replies when I just want to give my personal opinion on it. If you go through my post you will see that I
pick beginner threads such as this one to reply to for this reason of not having the time to read it all.
As soon as the thread gets too long I move one due to restriction of my time. I think a lot of people are on here because they are at work. This could
be good time wise or bad. Good for those who need something to do to kill time or bad for those that want to stop the boredom but are really limited
for time.

Yeah I can certainly understand that not everybody has time to read a full thread. especially considering how long some of them become.
The problem I have though is with the people who post a response despite the fact that fact. IF you cant read the whole thread or atleast skim
through each post and get the jist of what is being said ,DONT POST.
atleast not yet. If you want to post later thats fine, just do it when you have time to read the thread.

Some threads are like train wrecks. The only way to fix the situation is to post to the topic in the OP.
I personally cannot stand my opinion being denounced because I don't want to read 13 pages of peoples small useless pathetic ineffective rhetoric. I
want to post my brilliantly worded and well researched ON TOPIC post.
Thats the problem with long threads. The subject of the thread gets lost along the way, If I were to go through the entire thread reading your
argument with joeblowX and have to scroll through page after page of Mod edits just so that I know that you and your foe Du Jour are having it out
over what the meaning of the word is is I get turned off by the subject and won't bother posting. However if after a couple of pages of mod
removals of off topic posts I come in with a fresh clean opinion of the topic primer? Doesn't that hold with what the topic is about? Or should I
debase myself into the argument and have my entire post removed because I got caught up in the drama and sarcasm that ensues in the thread?

Your very right too in bringing this thread up but sometimes its really hard to stop yourself from replying early, I try to refrain in doing so all
the time but get an itchy finger trying to express my feelings on the matter. I think there should be some sort of rehabilitation program for itchy
typing fingers because if anybody knows of one SIGN ME UP

I can certainly understand what you mean. Its really just a pet peeve of mine. When I wrote it I was venting because I noticed a few posts in my last
thread that were clearly made by people who didnt read the thread.
They brought up something that had already been mentioned and debunked. It just drives me nuts...
I need to accept that it will probably never change, But I dont know if I can. It just bugs me so much!
Theres really nothing I can do about it. Its not really against T&C. The posts arent really off topic, just obnoxious.
Your post made me laugh, by the way, so a star for that!

I usually stay away from looooong threads, I don't really have the time to catch up on those. Or I might read the OP and the last page and pretty
much bypass the rest. However, I don't typically post in those either because of the fact that I didn't read it all.

hehe. Like Rush, I usually read page one, skim page two, then skip to the last page.
I authored one thread that got up to about 70 pages and it was so annoying to answer one argument/objection/question that kept popping up on
what felt like every single page and sometimes several times each page. But the most frustrating part of all is that only a handful of times it was a
'newbie' entering the thread. Most of the time it was the same people who had been participating in the thread pretty much since the beginning who
kept bringing up the same gripe over and over again although myself and others answered it dozens of times.

Your so right. My last thread got around 170 posts.( The most any of my threads have gotten.) It becomes very difficult to keep the thread on track
when you start getting up towards 100 posts.
I guess sometimes you just got to take the good with the bad. Or as the saying goes, take what I need and leave the rest.

As someone else mentioned (Wuk I believe), I respond to the OP, because that is what caught my attention. Honestly, i don't want to read all the
replies. It can influence what I have to say.
Sometimes I'll go through and read the other replies, but rarely. It's my posting style, and if you don't like it... that's your trip. Not trying
to be mean either.

Yep, i'm with eyes here, but it depends on the post imo...if you are going to ask a question that has already been answered then yes, its
frustrating, but to reply to the op.. If i was the op, i would want to have replys, and not have people feel they have to read a long 17 pg (eg)
thread to be able to feel worthy...its all relative.

Well of course it would influence what you have to say. It could potentially make your arguement that much stronger.
But since you didnt read the thread ( Not neccasarily this particular thread) Your (Not you personally, You as in anybody) arguement has become weak.
It is one that has already been mentioned and either accepted or debunked.
I dont need two people two make the exact same arguement. Its pointless. As you said, I dont like it, and it is my trip.
Like I said, unfortunatley this thread will most likely do no good other than to allow me to vent for a while.
Peace

I can see what you are saying, however I rarely if ever post in the serious debates anymore. I've been doing that for years and I have come to the
conclusion that it only feeds egos, if that even. I want to have a good, and share that goo time with others.
Something someone says on the the internet boards is unlikely to change my perspective. So arguing/debate is a moot process IMO.
