Heath Ledger the Worst Joker I have ever seen

First off, considering it seems like noone here even seen the movie. Heath Ledger is amazing... probably one of the best roles I have seen in years. He is truly a psychopath.... and it probably ended up killing him.

Second, I have never seen so many damn people in one movie theater at one time. This movie is no doubt breaking all sorts of records.

I have seen lots of movies with a full crowd. I went to go see the first one in the movie theatre and they actually rented a spotlight with the batman logo during the premeire.

But the movie does tread on homoerotism so i am gonna have to give it a thumbs down.

I saw it Thursday at 6:30 in the Lincoln Center theater - special Time Warner viewing (friend works for the comapny). Breaking records everywhere, and rightfully so.

Someone actually watched those awful movies?

no offense but your taste is in your mouth... Heath was brilliant in the role and I've seen all the Batman films - they were cartoons compared to the last two with Christian Bale....

Nicholson was the only persona in the previous BM movies that I really liked and felt was true to the Comic. This movie is a Batman movie about the "Dark" knight, and Frank Millers vision. In that respect it is admirable. Bale is decent but probably not "Dark" enough. Ledger is beyond awesome and a true psychopath. I can't wait to get this on Blue Ray and then I can watch it 10 more times .

Actually I think Jack Nicholson played a pretty decent Joker!

Have to disagree with you though Maybach on Bale not playing a good Batman I really like the new movies (apart from the batmobile/bike) and think Bale plays a very convincing Batman just like Keaton from the original 80's movie

saw dark knight last night and Heath was amazing!!!! evan though i knew it was him, the make-up and his persona was so real it scared the beep out of me. he deserves all the accolades he gets for this. just sad he wont be around to accept them.

It's clear that many people don't have an actual clue about the joker character.

He's not some comedian character like the joke 1989 movie.

This is the guy who killed Robin, paralyzed Jim Gordon's daughter, Shot Jim Gordon's wife Sarah in the head and has killed at least 100, 000 people ranging from school children to old people.

The same guy who was flying an aeroplane into the centre of Gotham before batman stopped him, with the logic if he kills enough people one of them might be his rival the calender killer who's stealing his fame.

The man who poisoned Lois Lane so Superman would break his golden rule and kill him for the antidote. Just so he could be the guy who turned Superman into a villain.

Fair enough if you like the george romero 60's joker and 1989 nichilson joker but ledger plays the Joker as he is in comic contiunity and thus is playing the real joker.

What I think people miss by not seeing the comics is that the Joker isn't funny. He is intelligent and the darkest of almost all the villains in comic history.

Jack Nicholson is a fabulous actor but his Joker was comical and terrible. Heath and Bale do an incredible job

BAtman is a very known icon in todays hero sphere, even though very few people have taken the time to really "get to know him" and his pals...

TDK is a very good MOVIE, a FILM, Christopher Nolan exploits the media, makes us wonder and awe, the ensemble cast is top notch, the sound design is amazing, and the list goes on...

Wht is a FILM, a real one? one that expands the media, one that confronts humanity's ideas, one that is technically superb.
They got everything right in this one, that is why its breaking the records, even people that normally don't go to the movies are attending this one.

When people see a movie that is ART, they crap their pants, but the thing is that there are many "real" movies out there, it is just that many of said movies are not made in the US, or are about Batman...
It has brought the art of cinema back from the dead.

Mr. BAle is superb in the movie, but i agree, he takes a second role when Mr. Ledger comes onscreen...

i dont know what it is about islamo facism these days but this rugged look is a mother. i kills everything that is cool. and it like deprives you of hydration its weird. its like its humiliating to even be bothered with men like that

If you read the comics and knew his personality, this is how he is supposed to be. Not funny like Jack, insane beyond compare. His messy look is what helps make him the way he is. That's how it was meant to be

To be fair I think both Ledger and Nicholson were fantastic at playing the joker, its just the tone of the movies was completely different and thus the character of the joke and how he was to be played was different too. The older batman movie with Nicholson wasn't as dark as the new adaption.

Sure at the time it probably seemed pretty dark as movies go, much like the exorcist seemed much scarier back in the day, but the new adaption is much darker and sinister by comparison, and many would closer to the source material in that regard.

As such, I think Ledger's performance was equally as good as Nicholson's, it's just that with the darker tone and characters he was able to showcase a much deeper, psychotic and interesting character to the audience, and as result we warmed to that character more. Both actors gave the best that could have been given with the character, it's just that the script and direction of the two movies were so different that the interpretation of the characters is going to be different as well, thusly the reception is going to be different too depending on the audience' tastes, which in this case seems to lean more towards favoring the new joker character (myself included) compared to the one shown in the older movies.

In summary, great acting in both cases, but Ledger probably got the best interpretation of the joker to act, not that it diminishes his accomplishment.

i liked heath ledger in it .. it was like this guy was really effin crazy.

but i hella laughed everytime bale would show up as batman cuz the voice he would make.. it was just like what?
one day i woke up to that voice saying WE GOTTA DO THIS haha weird.

But seriously The joker is so sinister and just straight up crazy, I love it, no idea how Ledger got himself into character for that..

I dont know if I fully agree with the OP, however I do feel comparing Heath and Nicholson is like a highschool athlete to a Pro.

I think if you put any decent actor in that much make-up and told him to act that way, anyone could have done the same job...if not better. Was he good? Yes. Was he great? No.

Now, Bale...horrible. Completely horrible. I thought that in the 'begins' and think he was even worse in TDK.

His batman voice is sooooooo overdone. And that boy needs to open his mouth with he speaks. He has no facial expressions, or emotion when he acts.

When playing batman you must remember that you are playing two TOTALLY different characters. Batman Bruce Wayne. These two characters are totally different people.

Keaton did the best job seperating these two. Bruce Wayne was this semi-klutzy, charismatic, billionaire. And Batman was all business.

Honestly, TDK should have never been made.
