a serious threat to online comunities
how do you guys combat these pests of the online comunity
i really need some tips in getting ideas on fighting them
Please be more speciffic. Are you talkign about email? You say community so I guess you are talking about forums. If that is the case OCR image
recognition (the letters and numbers that you enter before hitting submit) is the best option. Being a form field cracker I have alot of experience on
this and it is not impossible to read an ocr but it slows the process down to the point that it is not even worth the effort.
I get yah now. There is this add on that I'm not sure what it is called because I'm not into forums that much.
It makes it so you have to wait 30 seconds before posting another post. I wish this forum had it sometimes. It is very helpful for the poster also.
Sometimes the poster will have a slow or choppy connection ahits the send button twice thing it didn't sumit the first time. With the 30 second rule
the second click will not submit so you don't accidently dupe your post or double post in other words.
This 30 second delay add on shouldn't be hard to find because I see it all over the place. It is becomming quiet popular and effective.
Good Luck Dude!
Edit Added:
Just so you understand. If you have to wait the 30 seconds to post again than the spam bot will stop because the posts are being rejected.
