Ok Canada time to save our favourite song!!

Topic started on 19-6-2008 @ 10:51 PM by Rhain

Hello Everyone.

I was just looking into the new Hockey Night in Canada contest and at first I thought ya great idea. But, then I read what CBC did to Delores Claman, the author of the original song we all love and heard for many years.

So I have decided to boycott the contest and state we don't need a new song the old one should stay.

Please read what Delores' lawyer is stating. Mind you it's just his side but why would be not state facts.

You be the judge.

I think we all should band together to keep the original song in place and tell CBC not to change things.

Too late. CTV now own the rights to the song and will use it on their TSN and RDS hockey broadcasts and during the 2010 Olympic hockey. The beloved song will no longer be heard on Saturday nights, but some time during the week. Tuesday or Wednesday, I'm not sure.

Stephen Colbert also did a bit on his show about it. That was funny, if anyone saw it. Here it is:

Personally, I like the Stompin' Connors song but I don't think it will make a good theme. Oh well, some people think that change is good.
