The Case For the Creator

I read the book a few years ago. The movie is also very good. A revealing look at how the scientific evidence supports theism.

From You Tube:

As a high school freshman, Lee Strobel became convinced that God did not exist. Only the hard, empirical evidence of science could be trusted - and it appeared to point to a universe created by purely materialistic processes. Time, chance, and Darwinian evolution.

This atheistic worldview deeply influenced Strobel's academic years and early career as an award-winning journalist for the Chicago Tribune. Then, in 1980, his wife's conversion to Christianity led him on an intensive search for the truth about God. Not surprisingly, he began with science.

What do the discoveries of modern biology, physics, cosmology, and astronomy really tell us about the origin of life and the universe? When objectively considered, does contemporary scientific evidence point toward or away from a supernatural Creator? Strobel interviewed scientists and scholars from a wide range of disciplines for the answers.

Based upon a New York Times best-seller, The Case For A Creator is a remarkable film about Lee Strobel's journey from spiritual skepticism to a profound faith in the God who has etched His indelible signature upon every galaxy and living cell. The Creator now revealed by 21st century science.

I enjoy Lee Strobel's writing. He's an investigative journalist who took his investigative journalism tendencies and applied them to an attempt to refute the Bible. The result was The Case For Christ, where, near the end, he was forced to choose to cling to his atheism or admit to himself that the evidence for Jesus was overwhelming and admit that He was not only real, but the Biblical account of Him and who He was (God, Savior) was accurate.

For those of you who don't know any of his writing, Lee Strobel is the reason Ford Pintos are known to explode -- he's the journalist who broke the story on Ford's attempted cover-up on the cars exploding when hit in the gas tank because it would be cheaper to handle the lawsuits than to do a recall on all the cars. That was probably his biggest story that 30 years later is still well known by the general American public.

Thanks for that JJ. I just wanted to add that Strobel also holds a law degree and used the rules of evidence in his investigations which led him from atheism to Christianity. It's folks like Strobel and CS Lewis that start out as hardened cynics yet follow the actual evidence that prove faith is not at all blind.
