I agree with the what you said about Futurama... although it lives on in movie form. Haven't seen the new ones yet, though.

4400 was cancelled too soon. Leaving it unresolved after four seasons was insane.

I don't get into Sci Fi too much (Not series' anyway).

But a series I would have liked to go further was "Dead Like Me", I loved that show, it was funny, dark and very witty (in my eye's).
I was dissapointed to hear that it finished after season 2.

Edit:also love Futurama and would love for that to come back, it was such a refreshing take on Sci-Fi and great direction away from The Simpsons.

Don't get me wrong I love the Simpsons but I find it hard to rewatch Older episodes, wereas Futurama has more rewatchability (Not all Epi's but alot of them)
I also LOved the continuity of it all, being that you can see Nibbler's shadow in the very first Episode. (Thats just one example)
Another would be seeing Leela's parents way before she ever meets them.

The Simpsons however found lots of Loopholes so they didn't have to contnue storylines, (Sometimes they put those loopholes right in your face too).

I agree with your two picks and add The Wire which was the best show on television ever.

Definitely, like others have said, JERICHO.

My favourite TV series of the past decade. It got canned here in Australia after 2 episodes of the 2nd season, so I had to, how you say, acquire the rest of the episodes.

Even then, they tried to jam a seasons worth of storyline into the final episode because the show had been canceled.

I personally think the show was ended because it was too close to the truth.

An attack in September on American soil perpetrated by government insiders so they can reorganize the country into an easily governed police state. Sound familiar?

As others have said I thought The Wire was a great show.

My pick would have to be an older one:

The Pretender
en.wikipedia.org...

I used to watch that show just as ritually as shows like Seinfeld.

Firefly would definitely be on my list, along with Nowhere Man, John Doe, Farscape, The Dresden Files, Dead Like Me, and Invasion.

Good Picks, esp "Dead, Like Me" with Mandy Patinkin. Five star re-watchability.

Gotta go with Odyssey 5. (not so rewatchable, but great plot)

19 episodes filmed, left a bit up in the air, but elegantly filmed and great ensemble cast.

After witnessing the destruction of the Earth from orbit, a group of astronauts is sent back in time and given 5 years to prevent the disaster from happening

Starring Peter Weller (Buckaroo Banzai)

Rome is over? OMG...I just watched the first two seasons and it was the best series I have seen. That is so very disappointing, I thought a new season would be coming out soon. : (

Rome and Angel.

the wire wasn't cancelled. like the sopranos, it merely ended. I'm sure HBO would have loved for it to continue.

True, but it did end way too soon for my liking. I thoroughly enjoyed each episode of this masterpiece.

I can't believe nobody has mentioned Surface. They could have done so much more with that story line.

And Jericho. I was pissed when they cancelled it.
