Mother calls 911 to save suicidal daughter. Cop arrives, shoots daughter dead.

you live out here too? just a couple of minutes up the road. there have bben an awful many shootings in our area of lat.

Police officers should never be used in suicidal situations. What is the story read: " Police officer, father of three was killed last night trying to save a suicidal mentally ill woman with a razor blade. Officer ( John Doe ) thought he could disarm her with non lethal weapons and almost had her subdued when the woman sliced his neck severing his artery. Officer ( John Doe ) bled to death on the scene. His wife and three children are without a father and husband and the mentally ill woman was finally subdued and put in a mental heath facility for evaluation, paid for by our tax paying citizens. I don't know what to say about this story as to who is to blame. Like others have said, if you want to save a loved one " don't call the police".

This reminds me of a shooting of a mental patient in my town last summer. He had escaped the mental hospital saying people were going to kill him and went to his father's house. When the cops came he tried to get away in a van, at which point the cops shot him twice saying he tried to use lethal force by running them over. He continued down the street about 50 feet and crashed into a stop sign, and the officers ran up and executed him with a barrage, even though he was already severely disabled by their first shots and unarmed. Cops don't give a flying f@$# about protecting you anymore, they all just want to blow someone away.

Depending on how much truth there is to what the mother is saying, it looks like someone could be going behind bars for sometime.

The number one problem with this story I have is, according to the mother, she called 911 for an ambulance to help her bleeding daughter, not for a cop to come kill her.

I question the statement that "the cop first shot her at a distance". What sort of distance can you have in a front room of a house. Even if it was some sort of distance, such as 15-20 feet, there was no reason to shoot her.

Yes the police dept. needs to be investaged. It's a shame that there are no mental health facilities in the area also. That's part of the crime too.

Thanks for the reply. Your story is another reminder of the mess we live in today.

It's always been more-or-less like this. Due to more coverage, online videos, youtube, and cell phone cams, we just learn about them more quickly and more frequently.

In fact some might argue that absolutely, the cops exercise more restraint over all and they have better training. We don't really know, but back in the day when cops were 'gods', the 40s, 50s, 60s, they could get away with anything. I suspect the corruption may have been less pervasive, but deeper. It just never got any publicity.

listen, this has happened before and will continue ...so... it is accepted. and why do i say this? have you seen a reduction in this type of law enforcement behavior? have you seen the federal government do a nationwide investigation and crackdown on this type of behavior? have you seen a STRENGHTENING of our freedoms and rights guarenteed under the bill of rights? have you witnessed our government going out of its way, to protect the poor and powerless in our country?...

fear has always been a great motivator, and we are slowly being taught to fear our government and the actions it takes. wiretaps, monitoring of computers, cameras on public street corners and private property, laws allowing LEGAL search and seisure procedures. votes being counted by right-wing owned private companies, bankruptcy protections for average citizens outlawed, mass news media entertaining, not informing the public. i could go on but you get the idea.

I vote you all start a petition to congress to do away with police. EVERY police department, sheriff's office, federal agency, etc....done..gone! Lets do that and get rid of us all....then I am POSITIVE the world as we know it and this country will be so much better off! I mean cmon, everyone out there is capable of taking care of buisness and keeping order right? You all could respond to these situations and do a MUCH better job then any cop could ever do! I know without any Law Enforcement anywhere in this country society as it has come to be would definitly then respect the needs, will, and desires of each other right? I'm guessing without LEO's crime would pretty much cease to exist right?

Look, this is a tragic event. But I can tell you something about the whole thing isn't making sense. I will wait to hear more, but IF...IF the officer did what the mother said: "he shot her and she fell, then he walked up as she layed on the floor and shot her two more times" then yes I'm on board with this officer going to prison for murder. But then there is the report from the medical examiner that NOONE on this thread decided to mention (suprise). The ME found that the 3 shots trajectories and distance were all the same!!!! Hmmmmm INTERSTING fact left out of all posts and all media outlets except ONE!!! Wonder why???????

oh I didn't know the BOR and CONSTITUTION stated you could get drunk out of your mind, use a razor to cut yourself and then use that razor on someone else because your having issues without being stopped or punished.....learn something new everyday!

Well we cant have cops going around getting paid killing people not even being trained in advance to that situation , in fact it's a disrace before God, the peoples safety and the fear of the law enforcement of such news in that certain community, that is bad cops shoot to kill for unknowingly what reson? When someones asks for an abulance give them one, not a cop. They must of felt it needed to be investigated of a mentally ill'd person, they should know that cops use force and wait untill they decide to call an abulence.......

COP : what seems to be going on?
Person is distress : *bleeding* maybe uncapable of communication

And anyone who says to get rid of cops is really stupid. However, in this case..someone needs to look into this department.......and fire or put that man in jail/prison. Killing is wrong especially when you lie about it.

And do you honestly believe EMS/Medical personnel are going to rush right in to help someone with a blade that could EASILY kill or hurt them. We still don't know what kind of blade....but a women who is ill and freaking out who already cut herself up good is NOT something an unarmed EMS worker is going to just walk right into!

A cut up/injured medical worker is no good to the situation. So now they just have more victims to treat on scene!

when we start hearing stories about how deadly a threat are box cutters and razor blades, then we know something is not quite right. sure, these things are dangerous, but so is mixing household cleansers. the governments of this world (i.e. enemies of humanity) have weapons that could wipe out the whole d@mn planet in the blink of an eye. that's what we need to be worried about, and even more so, the people wielding this power.

of course the woman killed by the cops here is just another example of the police state mentality. for those who say they should have been trained to handle dealing with mentally ill people - well, they were, and they performed perfectly to the letter. this is how our officers are being trained to treat their fellow citizens, and this is just one more reason why i will never respect anyone who works for the government - as a cop, a soldier, or even just filing papers at the DMV... nobody who willingly supports the police state has any right to live, and if you are too ignorant to realize what you are working for, well then, you are no better...

Certain piggies have reciprocal department policy where confrontation with a perp & weapon is mandatory shoot to death response. That is straight from a cop.

Good assumption but incorrect. In my years as a LEO I recieve training every year on mental illness and how to interact with them. NONE of which is shoot first! But until you have dealt with someone who is mentally ill you DEFINITLY don't have an understanding of what they can be capable of. They are just as dongerous as anyone in the right situation. So EVERYONE should have to learn more about these illnesses...not just police.

So you'll sit here and complain the cop shot and killed a women with a weapon, and say things BEFORE all the facts are in....but your ok with the killing and death of all public servants????? I'm guessing the next time someone calls 911 for a mentally ill person with a weapon or blade YOU will gladly respond and take care of it for the family..right?

How about this for a RADICAL idea , train cops in the art of NON LETHAL FORCE , surely anyone with half a brain can decide whether the bleeding 250lb woman bumbling toward them presents a "threat" to his/her life and can take appropriate action . One shot in the leg is enough to stop most humans . Lets remember it was Jane Public and not Johnny Taliban he was firing upon . I'm from the UK and we only have specialist firearms units , not all cops carry guns so non lethal means have to be used to resolve many incidents . This cop if reports are true should be treated as a murder suspect until the true FACTS are found

What happened to hand to hand combat training and martial arts??? For one thats a lot cheaper then spending money developing new " less deadly " weapons ......Our country's police force are IMO not trained properly to deal with about 80% of situations they deal with.
In all of these cases the officers who are supposed to be physically fit should be able to form tackle the hell out of a girl...Atleast u know maybe do a linebacker running start tackle and knock the wind outta her or knock her down or boot her in the stomach or something other than shooting to kill..
I could think of 100 different ways to take somebody down...Even if they do have a weapon it's not like it could kill the officer i mean it could but the victim isn't some trained knife wielding professional.
Cops are lazy, arrogant, iggnorant, selfish, not properly trained, somewhat brainwashed, and this starts from the officers and leaders up top who allow this.
If higher ranking oficers who train that this was bad then cops wouldn't do it..simple as that....no excuse why she died

I think you have to make the hospital aware and the police and
emergency units aware of the situation.

In my opinion this is "Suicide by Cop". When a very depressed or suicidal person wants to take their own life but can't or won't commit the act themselves, they manufacture a situation that involves them, a weapon and a law enforcement officer. (29 911 calls??) The person often gets the result that they desire. Run at a police officer with a knife/blade/gun/whatever after he has told you to stop and drop the weapon, and you will be shot. Then the guilt of their death is off of them and the police look like the bad guys. I don't think that their intentions are to make the police look bad, that's just the outcome.

You've got my vote! All police forces should be privatized. I'm sick of my tax dollars be used to stroke some fat pig's ego or help some murderer improve his aim.

Instead I would rather keep my tax dollars to pay for a private security agency and bounty hunters. They screw up, I fire them. I don't have that choice with the gestapo whom I am forced to fund and when they drop the ball they get suspension with pay. My way if the private agency screws up too much they lose all their customers and all their money. Now that's true accountability.

I remember an event when a sheriff killed a boy with a knife charging towards him and the sheriff backed off but in the end shot him after the boy failed multiple times to get him. The sheriff might as well back off a mile.
