Steam Question

Do I need to download Steam for Half-Life in order to play single-player mods? I recently downloaded Wanted and the sound is messed up,but the sound works fine for Blue Shift and the normal version of HL which I have on CD. I've been looking for Steam but I don't know what I need to download. I do have a DSL now so the time is'nt much of a porblem. Sorry if this is a dumb question.

I do not think you need steam to play single player HL. If you want to play multiplayer then you have to download steam.

Jedimaster do you play counter-strike?

Steam was the worst thing that has ever happened to the valve games, like CS & Half-Life. I stopped playing them because of it.
