Buffy The Vampire Slayer (Season 1 - 7)

Buffy the Vampire slayer is a show about a normal teenage girl called buffy Ann Summers who is played by the gorgous Sarah Michelle Gellar. The only difference is this normal teenage girl kills Vampires and Demons. She did not choose to be the slayer, but "Into every generaion a Slayer is born."

She is quickly befriended by a socially inept genius called Willow. Willow is played by the very pretty Alyson Hannigan. Willow becomes a great witch in later episodes. Willow is thought of as the PC brain of the group, magic is her pride though. She does become evil in later episodes and trys to destory the world, she does have a kind heart but the power had went to her head and that is what swayed her. In a episode where they were in an alternitive reality she had fallen in love with zander and they were evil lover-hitmen/women.

Zander is one of her best friends also. Zander is played by Nicholas Brendon. Zander is the fun loving part of this demon fighting gang he has fun but is scared he makes the laughs. In a famous episode were all the people in Sunnydale were turned into what costume they were wearing on halloween. Zander who was dressed as a soilder suddenly got all the information about the army and became the hero of the episode. Although 99% of Buffy fans hoped/wanted Zander and Willow to get with each other as an item they both found love in other ways, Zander fell in love and marryed a ex-demon named Anya. Willow on the other hand went for the animal side of life choosing a werewolf named Oz.

The man layed with the challenge of over seeing the training and running of the slayers dutys is Rupert Giles. Rupert is a watcher sent by the watchers council to help Buffy in her day to day tasks as a slayer. Giles'es family have worked within the Watchers council for atleast 3 generations. he was born in Circa, England in 1955. he dremt of being a Fighter Pilot or a green grocer, but it was soon reveled to him when he was 10 in an episode named "Never kill a boy on the first date." that he was destined to be a watcher.

Spike & Angel are two vampires with massive differences. Angel is the only vampire without a soul in the history of Vampyr. Spike is a vampire that has killed many slayers by him self and changes alliance from team evil to the Scooby gang. In one episode we find out that Angel and Spike, along with Drusilla used to go round in the ol' days killing people as a team. We learn much about both of these characters in the first flashback in season 5 episode 7 which was named Fool for Love

In total there were7 seasons of Buffy made, all of which are considered to be at a cult classic level. There is thought to be around 254 episode of Buffy made, not including the original Buffy Movie which starred Kirsty Swanson as Buffy. the 7 seasons span from the first episode "Welcome to the hellmouth" which was aried on March 10th 1997 to the last episode which was "Chosen" which was aired on May the 20th 2003. So we were graced with approximatly 5 years of Buffymania.

There was a spin off show named Angel which is considered a big succses, it only latsed for 1 season but it was a heck of a season. The main characters were Angel, Cordelia Chase who was played by the sexy Charisma Carpenter, other peole in it were Wesley Wyndam-Pryce played by Alexis Denisof, Charles Gunn who was portraed by J. August Richards. The final episode of angel was aired in 2004, it was named "Not Fade Away" and was the greatest episode they ever made.

So after 5 years of Buffy and a year of the sister show Angel, were left with nothing but many box sets of seasons; and the hope that one day the Buffy spark will be light once again. So am i the only one who loved this show ?

Angel actually went for 5 seasons.

Seasons 1-4 were great, they had this whole great mythology built up around Angel, Cordelia, and Angel's son - the son of two vampires, prophecied to either save the world or destroy it etc etc.

And then they completely ruined everything with season 5!

Let's just kill off all our main characters why don't we??

Redo season 5 and get it RIGHT, Joss Whedon! If you kill off all your characters, you can't really make a follow-up movie, can you? Redo season 5, let Angel win Buffy and his humanity back, dammit!

Yer i posted up one season, it said 1 on the list of seaons on wikipedia, but i soon relised that there were more, since ive seen them all. Its been corrected now. So whats this about a movie ?...

Nothing really, just me dreaming that a follow-up movie or mini-series to the Buffy/Angel story would be cool.

As for whether something like that is really in the works, I have no idea....

Ill do some looking up but ive had a few looks around and saw no hints. But hey man, we can live in hope.

I missed the initial showing of BtVS, and saw it on tape in 2001.

My daugher and I watched the first season in a marathon session and were soon doing 'Buffy-speak'.

I caught up during the 5-6th season, and backfilling the first 4 seasons with vids and, other means at the same time. It was really an 'all-Buffy, all the time' year.

Thumbs up for a movie (see my post above yours) Didn't realize you had posted this - I was prompted by Angel's last ep on this AM.

Sorry to be picky - but isn't it that Angel is the only vampire to have a soul. Or perhaps I missed the point - I thought that when he was good it was because he had his soul...and that his punishment was that if he experienced perfect happiness he loses it...the whole gypsy curse thing.

Either way love and miss Buffy, I never could quite get into Angel the series, no match in my opinion.

Actually, I think towards the end Spike gets his soul back too

I wasn't too sure about this. Spike had the chip implanted that prevented him from being 'evil', I can't remember whether he eventually regained his soul - but it certainly was a whole redemption thing that went on, that possibly it was his 'love' for Buffy that returned him to the path of good and reminded him of his humanity not necessarily that he had a soul but that he was purified by love.

Spike was one of my favourite characters especially in the final series - I think may be because he was English. Loved Oz too so perhaps I just have a thing with flawed men.....

If I recall correctly, he gets his soul back somehow in Angel season 5.

I remember because it created a lot of confusion amongst Angel's gang, "well which vampire-with-a-soul do those Nyazian scrolls refer to then, Angel or Spike??"

You see there you go - I never made the transistion from Buffy to Angel. Not enough wise cracks for me I think, all a bit too serious, I like arse kickings with wit.

For me, both 'Buffy' and 'Angel' jumped the shark, meaning they took tortuous twists to accomodate certain changes. (Buffy after S-4, Angel after S-1).

In Buffy, Whedon wrote all the shows for S-1. Then S-2 through S-4 he only did about 1/3 to 1/2, though he had significant oversight. "Buffy" was still JW's Buffy.

Then Marty Noxon took over, a 'sister' was retconned and the whole show went down hill and became an adult soap opera, poorly written, with retarded (imo) plots.

The only reason the 'fans' stuck with it is that the original cast somehow brought their 'magic' to the set everyday and elevated the bad writing and sloppy plots and arcs. Only one or two shows per season were really that good. You could tell Whedon was turning over more and more script control.

One thing I've wondered is how the arrival of Michelle Trachtenberg (Dawn) went over with the regulars. Sometimes it causes problems.

Remember how the addition of 'Seven of Nine' upset Kate Mulgrew (Janeway)? I think she actually broke the silence that usually is enforced with these kinds of changes and beyotched about it. The producers said they did it because ratings were flagging, hoping to bring in that hormone driven 14-28 segment - and, largely, they were right - 7 did revitalize the series.

Wouldn't be surprised in "BtVS" if Michelle Gellar (Buffy) actually helped bring in 'Dawn' (Less work for her, though her pay probably increased, allowing her more time off the set to do other things. Remember Invisible Girl? Buffy was in Australian, IIRC, fliming the first Scooby movie, so she literally 'phoned' in her performance).

Usually the 'star' rankles if what seems like competing talent is brought in, but it depends on their control and the dynamic. Gellar had no trouble staying on top and keeping control.

Bet the others weren't happy. More of the 'pie' to share, and they probably got paid less (different contracts). You couldn't tell by their performances, which remained high throughout the show.

Hey! I didn't say I didn't like the cast change and the focus from detective and two side kicks to an ensemble show with 6 or 7 people.

Though I didn't like Angel as much as Buffy S1-S4, it was right up there. The writers were top notch (David Greenwalt and Tim Minear).

My credo is always 'first, hire the best writer you can'; the rest is secondary. Witness the first seasons of 'The West Wing' with Aaron Sorkin. Superb. One didn't care about the cast or the plot, the writing was -that- good.

If you haven't read about the methods that Sorkin used, it's worth looking into - he's a genius and arguably the only writer that's equal to or better than Whedon in the field of Television, in that time period. When Sorkin left I basically tried to hang on but dropped watching as the show took a dive in quality in comparison.

I feel the same about movie scripts. Hire the best write and script editor, then the best director then the best cinematographer. THEN worry about SFX and other stuff. In fact always put the casting and character-driven aspect ahead f the 'action' and 'genre'. Of course, sometimes you just have a winning property and it's hard for anything to mess it up...but generally, that's the way I think it should go.

Yer i know theres a comic strip, a great picture of buffy from the comic was my avatar for a lil while, and yes i made a mistake spike did get a soul, he didnt want it but he got it, he had the chip but either in angel or late season of buffy eh did get a soul. Ill have to check on it though.

I can understand her point, but consider if Joss was writing it, he'd find a way and, frankly, I'm a bit surprised that she woudn't have complete faith in him.

Of course, having said that, we all know how unforeseen forces can change a movie, even after it's in the can. It makes sense to be cautious. She really doesn't need to make any more money, I'd guess, so the issue would be type casting or something along those lines that worry her.

Haha, if she does do it, pray she doesn't insist on including a certain person who has been in her recent movies.

I'm a Buffy addict.

Spike got his soul back at the end of Season 6 after he went through the trials. He was mad at Buffy and wanted to be rid of the chip, so he asked the demon guy to make him what he used to be (a mean nasty killing machine with no feelings), except he didn't word it quite right and ended up with a soul.

Now I remember...he didn't want his soul but as you say the demon gave it to him and he wasn't best pleased. Cheers for the reminder...
