Well...I type in something like..."post button gone" and click "search" and the answer comes up...

Where do you type that in?

*anxiously await the Boolean search*

yup, that's where I search too.

A handy little function and one I like, although I haven't used it for a few weeks, on account of THE ELECTIONS!

I have not read the entire thread , just wanted to lend my support to the OP and the concern he shows for all of us , members and staff both. It must be scary to be the Top Dog in this huge adventure and I think people sometimes forget that he is human after all.

I would never complain about ATS' "growing pains". This is the best site I have ever found for enjoying a complete 360 degree of opinions and the members are of such quality that if I want to see both sides of an issue I know I will see it here. Thanks for such a great site and I will always be patient as it grows. Hat's off from me!

I can assure you that SkepticOverlord is NOT, I repeat NOT human. Having spent way too much time with him in various places around the continental United States in various meetings on various projects, I can tell you that he is a Cyborg.

His ability to code for 19 hours straight, without so much as a "potty break" should be all the evidence anyone needs but I had to be sure. I will admit that while we were in Scottsdale, Arizona last week I had him scanned. It was amazing, he looks just like Brent Spiner under that beard!

Seriously though, we truly do hope that everyone who enjoys this site and especially those who contribute the incredible content, will hang on through the rough spots knowing there is always a better ATS coming, we (the staff, the admins and the amigos) really do work everyday to that end.

Thanks...

Springer...

Exceptional Sites are built by Exceptional People

The older members are fully aware of how much time and effort gets dumped into ATS by everyone - staff & members alike. We are all builders of ATS. This is our baby, and we should expect turbulent times as our baby grows up.

Fights, misunderstandings, drama, and flare-ups will always be a mainstay of any social group. These kinds of things will pop up from time to time, and maybe even in your U2U inbox! If this happens to you, just remember why you are here and approach the situation with candor, decorum, and respect. It will get you a lot farther in the long run.

I understand that times are tough, people are frustrated, and staff is working overtime. I know its tough. But nothing good ever came easy, so lets all just keep our head down and push forward. There are too many good things in store for all of us in this community, so let's try not to get caught up in petty bickering.

Focus on the positive! Avoid drama! Deny Ignorance!

I have been an Admin and MOD of a board before (nothing like this place). It is NOT an easy job.

There is always someone who is pissed off at you. Always someone to complain. Always someone who is very happy and pleased.....

But, you cant please everyone.

There is so much that goes on behind the scenes just to keep a board running. I cant even begin to imagine what it takes to keep this place running

I say kudos to everyone keeping this place ticking.....and THANKS!

I am still very disappointed in your staffs recent decision not to ban a certain member for posting a terrorist video and then his rejoicing over Americans getting killed. That absolutely disgusted me and when I spoke up and said something about it I got a warning. If ATS wants to allow that sort of thing then fine. I believe that it will one give ATS a bad name and invite the wrong people to start looking at ATS. I have never seen one video posted of a terrorist getting blown up then to have people post rejoicing about it. Its just not cool and when someone post a terrorist propaganda video on any other forum that I know of, It is quickly removed and the person is banned.
I have noticed a bad trend of blaming the U.S. for every little problem in the world and I have to say it gets very old seeing me and my fellow Americans get in trouble for defending our homeland when it is just and needed. If the site continues to be a haven for these wanna be terrorist and maybe even some real ones then I will not be able to participate any further.

I am a newbie myself and I don't mind the upgrades to ATS. I appreciate the effort and hard work that the site owner and the excellent staff and the moderators that he has working with him to ensure that this website is THE best that it can be. I also appreciate being allowed to be a part of it and will do my best to maintain myself in a respectful manner to everyone on this website, even those with whom I may not necessarily agree with. So thanks to the owner, his staff and everyone else for making this, ATS, the best website I've ever been a member of.

ATS means many things to many people. It's akin to living in the USA or some other large country. There's so much to see that many of us will never see it all. Some people prefer warm climates, others prefer the cold. he city, or the farm. ATS offers us all of that. While everything may not seem perfect, I offer my support to the owner and mods. I've probably only interacted with less than 10% of this boards' capabilities. I've seen some good stuff and bad stuff, but I see that whenever I walk out my door.

I for one, like the new ways of telling people their behavior was innappropriate here. The notices are funny, subtle and get the point across to all why the comment was removed.

The growing pains of the new users could be taken care of more if they used the search function before posting a "new" thread sometimes.

I myself cut the newbs a lot of slack, those of us who have been here for awhile posting should gently guide them into proper decorum on this site.

All in all, good job gents!

Under A Red Star

Gotcha. However, would another option, like red stars for disagreeable posts work. I know I'd be more likely to check out a thread if there were massive amounts of stars on both the agree and disagree side of things. It might make things more interesting. But hey, this is one hell of a tangent, so ignore me.

Sorry, but even when you say "ignore me" it's impossible to ignore you.

I understand the appeal of being able to give negative feedback, but there are many liabilities that come with such systems. Probably the closest thing we have to something like that is the option of designating a fellow member a "Respected Foe", but even then, the context is one of polite disagreement, not rejection or dismissal.

Personally, I think the tolerance of differing opinions -- even opinions we might find objectionable ourselves -- is what makes ATS so special.

Let's face it: you don't see a lot of that these days.

If it's any consolation, however, if something is truly objectionable -- in that it clearly violates the AboveTopSecret.com Terms And Conditions Of Use -- there's always the ALERT button under every post.

Those alerts definitely get our attention, and if the post in question violates the T&C, we'll take appropriate action.

But unless a post does violate the rules, it is welcome in our forums, regardless of anyone's personal feelings about it.

Of course as always -- stars or no stars -- if you disagree with any post, you are always welcome to spell out why in response, and as long as you also honor the T&C, you're golden.

For what it's worth, some of the people I respect most in our community are people I don't always agree with.

Sometimes they turn out to be wrong, sometimes I turn out to be wrong.

If you want to know why I love ATS so much, that's basically it.

I learn something new every time I log in, and every time I do, I grow a little more as a person.
