I hope you can see the difference you are making in ppls' lives. Not only in the soup kitchen , but here on ATS . The volunteer work you do, and the people you touch.. those tales when relayed to others ( like us here ) inspire more ppl to take an initiative and give back to their community.

You have my utmost respect.

Some people walk around with their eyes shut to the world....
I'm glad to see there are still a few who have them open....

Mine are open.....with a tear...pass me a tissue!

I remember asking my mother ,What does rich mean?
This was when I was about 5yrs old.
My mothers reply...To be rich in health...!
At the time we had a friend who was sick...she died when she was 9yrs old.

If we can't change the world...at least we make others smile for a day....
thanks Lombozo!

"Lombozo, there's someone here to see you." Jeremy said.

I went to the back door and Bruce was standing there. There was a box truck and a van.

"Hi Bruce."

"Hi lombozo. Well let's get started. Where do you want everything?"

He came in and we figured out where everything was to go.

"I'll be right back lombozo." he said as I followed him to the door. Bruce went over and above. Out of the van came 7 people. They were dressed in kitchen whites. They opened the box truck up and pulled out more turkeys than I have ever seen. Bread, coleslaw, stuffing to die for, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, boxes of clementines, and apples. He brought gravy, and ice cream as well. Oh and did I mention he brought festive plates, and festive napkins?

"Bruce what can I say?"

"Shhhh..... let us do our thing."

In less than an hour everything was set up. They set up a formal carving station for the turkeys. 3 of his people manned the carving stations and were true pros. The rest - took over the kitchen and put the finishing touches on the food. I was completely floored. How generous is this man? A TRUE Thanksgiving feast. We opened the doors.

"LOMBOZO" The familiar voice rattled.

"Liutenant!" I gave my standard salute to him.

"You are so lucky I am not your C.O. lombozo."

"Yeah yeah yeah......I've heard it all before. If you were my C.O., you'd run screaming!"

"It smells good in here today you grunt. What'd you do?"

"You'll see Lt."

Bruces people started to do their thing. It was obvious they knew exactly what they were doing. Slicing the turkeys. Gently putting together delicous turkey dinners.

"Would you like gravy Sir?" One of the attendants, who's name was Maria, asked Lt. He looked at me in disbelief. I nodded.

"Yes I would Ma'am."

His plate was perfect.

"Lt."

He looked at me again.

"Mind if I can share mess with you?"

"Are you serious lombozo?"

"Yes, I am, I'm gonna bring a friend too. Go pick out a spot. I'll be right there. Hey Willie!"

"What's goin' on lombozo?"

"Come with me."

Willie and myself got a couple of perfect plates of turkey and went over and sat with Lt.

The food was delicous. I mean absolutely delicous. I sat with my 2 friends and had a great time. We talked, and ate. It was strange looking at the station, and seeing it manned to perfection.

Willie was so happy he was almost giddy. He doesn't show that side of himself very often. Lt. was as happy as I've ever seen him. We talked about everything and nothing at all. It was wonderful. So many happy people. You know when you look around and see people who get a gift, and don't take it for granted, but instead relish it? I saw MANY MANY of these people. It was a TRUE Thanksgiving.

Thank you Bruce, and may God smile upon you my friend.
