I thought the wheel spats on the MP' at Valencia were very interesting and quite different than that of the equine prancers. What can one say about Kaz Nak finishing on top at Barcelona? Bravo. Heikki and LH? Fast, just fast. Stepney in front front of the Italian judges. Brawny workin' hard on '09. Gonna be be a good one.

Please, I pray to the Gods of the Stoned-Eccles - GIVE US BACK OUR SLICKS!!!! GIVE US BACK OUR OWN ECUs. Put a NASCAR "ace" in a mid-tier team so I can laugh again or put "the" Schu' in the worst NASCAR team so I can laugh in the other direction. For God sake someone give Sebby Loeb a ride in F1. Sadly, there will be no US Grand Prix this year. Ecclestone (blecch) didn't think the Indianapolis Motor Speedway "did enough" to promote the event. Ironically, Tony George traveled to Europe last fall to receive an award for doing the best job among all the F1 venues for promotion.

Go figure.

The general belief is that F1 will be back at IMS, and locally, we'll be very glad to have them.

Hi Vic: you post is funny, but you made some good points, IMHO:
Kimi's nature is so, he's nordic, and this facet is discussed even in Italy.
Well, i'm a Ferrari fan, and i judge the driver by what he does on the track, no matter if he doesn't smile even after a victory
Besides, it seems the he's learning to smile: Emilia is a hospitale region,
the people is courteous and gracious, so even a ice cube like him will, soon or later, "thaw"...

I'll be glad to share opinions with you about this season, hoping that we'll attend an amazing season.
I guess that given the new rules, we have good chances to look at spectacular races
Besides, despite many people don't thik so, i guess that this championship will be more or less balanced.





And this is very sad. If USA haven't the chance to look at the races, i don't see how the people there could appreciate the many qualities of the present F1: it's general consensus that it isn't much appreciated in the US, but who knows F1 also knows that that's not true.
I think that the interest is something that needs to be entertained.
But the problem # 1 that we have is Mr. Ecclestone: he's not a manager: hes a howner.
He created a circus that has many ununderstandable facets: he discussed about safety but in the meantime he deleted Indy from the list and he kept Montreal, that has much more issues, by the safety view, than almost all the other circuits.
And by the way, what gave Formula 1 to Indy? Do you remember the pathetic race with six cars because Michelin had safety issues at curve # 13?
Besides, given that Montecarlo is always the most boring race, he added another circuit inside a town.
He talks in a way and he acts on the contrary. I'm even convinced that he doesn't love this sport at all.
Money talks and Bernie goes where there is more money, who cares if a race is attended just by two camels?
Too sad that the circuits are not a matter entirely handled by the F.I.A., but so it goes.

The 6 car race was definitely a black eye, no question. The Speedway got beaten up prety good for that one, even though the did the best they could to explain they just run the venue - Bernie runs the show.

The cool thing about the Grand Prix is the international support. People from all over the world (and BIG spenders) came in for that one. You've got some hardcore race fans in the US that appreciate Formula 1. It sure doesn't garner anything close to the NASCAR support or even the open wheel stuff (which by the way is on the verge of reconsolidating). But it draws a crowd here.

I hope it comes back.

Some say Kimi can be quite a party animal... should see him drive rally... heikki too. Yup, got a wack of Nordic friends and without exception and sometimes without expression all are fun. Dry-ice humour.

I'd like to see F1 at the Glen and Road America... Elkhart Lake. Now if IRL and Chump car can get together... and turn left and right...

Who am I kidding... I won't be happy unless there's an unlimited series... like Can-Am. Nothing quite like seeing a McLaren or UOP or the old Chapparal Vacuum Cleaner crest the ridge on the old-old Andretti straight at Mosport at 200MPH catch air and slam it into corner eight.

Oops... Fontana's on SpeedTV or TVUnetworks... Montoya has gray hair. Hahahaha. Light rain... might get some laps in.

I loved to watch Senna pull the trigger for qualifying. The drift out of that corner was awsome. Rarely bested, Senna. I have some favorite overtaking that's a bit "old", the 1979 french GP, Gilles vs Rene... watch it's spectacular. Hammer and tong. Shoulda seen Gilles race sleds...

EDIT: RANT MODE ON - Target aquired, Champ Car and IRL are merging. No more race in Toronto. Fine. They can't afford to race in the 5th largest market in North America with the full-house fan support since '86? Tax breaks out the wazoo? Fine, screw you.

There are other venues being spoken of... perhaps a type of facility unknown currently in motorsports and automotive research anywhere, maybe two. The notion's been around since about '97. You see we have winter... that's part of the cool... in the summer track temperatures vary wildly. We make good hockey rinks... our roads cracks because of temperature fluctuations. Calgary and Toronto are perfect. Wink. It's "just" talk.

I used to tolerate the 2nd classness (business practices) of IRL and Champ Car or whatever they're calling themselves this week... every sanctioning body has it's bully-boy promotors and agendas... they all have their Czars. They should have listened to Robin Miller a decade ago... I'm done with these particular idiots until they get a better business headspace in Indy and elsewhere. The George family used to be so cool... same with the France's. I view the current leadership in those crews as lacking and monopolistic. Nice private empire girls... enjoy it.

Outlaw turbines... no all wheel drive... tire rules... design limiting regulations... there was a time when American racecraft and engineering were the best. That development stopped.

Glad we got F1... I'd be just as happy if NASCAR "racing" stays home and doesn't "race" here but they already bought CASCAR so it's an All-American abortion now. NHRA... sold! Meh, who cares. It's all so dilute...

F1 despite it's flaws has something no other has... the best of the best planet wide.

Almost have that in-car street circuit stuff ready... I agree; LH. What's up with the rad engine cowl on the RedBulls? Are they "leaning" on it in corners like a WoO leans on it's billboards? Or is it to make it more stable with a short wheelbase? Looks "different".

Lewis surprised me on 2007, despite i was aware that he was very talented:
it's never easy to get used to a F1 the first season that you drive one:
but Lewis not just got used to soon, he also finished the Campionship in second place because some "odd" "coincidences" in the last two races: i couldn't believe to what i was looking at during Brazilian GP: it looked like he deliberately decided to loose the championship, (and given the circumstancies, frankly, i cannot rule it out at 100%):
an italian Journalist, on gazzetta.it, the most important italian sports newspaper, wrote a very interesting article, some days before the Brazilian GP:
basically, he made some speculation about a possible agreement between F.I.A. and McLaren:
something like "we won't punish your drivers but you have to loose even the driver's championship".
I know, those were mere speculations, it was like a joke, but he was right at least about the final result, that was unexpected at all. I think that it has been just a coincidence, but many times i thought about that article ...
Well this doeasn't mean that Kimi didn't deserve the final victory, but who knows what really happened..

Jammin'. I got that MP2 thing done but the format is a bit big... itr refuses to convert to anything but mpg... it'll be two files of about 15 minutes total of some neat in-car. Tomorrow.

If the is a particular "aspect" of "The Thrill In Brazil"... I have that around somewhere. Politics within the culture and the "social engineering" that the highest levels of the sport is famously known for...

I liked when Nigel "came to America"... even on the ovals... Milwaukee, yeah. His lads are ready.
