I do agree that people were nasty to John Lear. I'm sorry to see him go, but I'm glad it's by his own choice. Sure will miss him though.

I suppose so. As for the "answering questions" aspect, though, I personally feel that he had a tendency to make what most people would consider wild claims and purport them to be fact, then have no answers for the questions asked about them. For instance, his frequent assertions that all of the planets in the Solar System and most of the moons are inhabited was one of those claims that was backed up only by blurry images and what could only be read as "smirky" responses with no real evidence pointing to proof. As other posters pointed out, if it wasn't for his standing and background, he likely would have been warned and booted for such behavior long ago. Most of us regular Joe Nohups probably would have been, depending on the editorial atmosphere of the board at any given time.

Whatever.

Shucks, gonna' miss the insults.

As to the title of this thread.....how about, is or was John Lear, a conspiracy master? Ever? And if so...by what criteria is that status given? What did he do here except repeat the same grand claims over and over again, without actually advancing the knowledge of the "conspiracy". I don't think so....I got the impression he was more of an agitator and genuinely enjoyed annoying people. I can't recall a single time J. Lear answered a critical analysis of one of his claims with any more depth than, "you're just wrong". Or some other variant of polite putdowns he employed constantly.

These forums are better off with J. Lear as just another member.

Isn't this special? Must be nice to slam a member how isn't going to be here to defend himself.

Remember folks the T&C still applies to ALL members, even those that are taking a break.

He's still a member....according to Springer he's able to post and defend himself all he wants.

It's also been made clear that he's taking a sabbatical. That doesn't mean that he can be attacked.

Isnt your sig this?

Everything I write may be completely wrong. It's up to you to make the discovery.

And you sit there and say that about John.. honestly thats kinda laughable.
Whats good for you is good for him..
Point made..

Awww I'm sad!

I've talked to him several times while I've been here and he was always fun and somewhat informative, even if some of it was dis-info. Know everything you can, right? Even if it's BS. I personally don't believe John was as full of skunkwork as people seem to think.

Maybe he was giving out too much info, and somebody got nervous and politely warned him away.

We may never know.

But we'll miss John Lear either way.

Precisely....now you're getting it. Just make it clear it's all opinion, may be completely wrong...and you can post nearly anything....

Seriously, sometimes this place just doesn't get satire or irony. Does my sig lend any more credence now? I'll bet it doesn't.

Just want to say that I will miss John's input. If nothing more, he sure
knew how to make you think. I would've liked to have been a fly on his
wall at certain times. I wish him good luck, and thank ATS.

I'm really sorry to see John go. I got many hours of enjoyable reading from his posts. I did not agree with most of his ideas but enjoyed them all the same. Hopefully he will pop in from time to time.

Enjoy your time off John

I say, when I see the points you earned so far and I see the points John Lear has earned so far, WITHOUT who do you think ATS will really be a better place?
Sorry, no offence, but I think it is you, no doubt about that.

That's basically what he does. No first hand evidence whatsoever.

Would you be so kind, to provide me the names of others in relation with this Extraterrestrial phenomena who indeed has provide first hand 100% evidence to backup their claims?

Let's also not forget the little insults that go along with every reply trying to make people feel stupid.

Well, “what goes around comes around”, in the Netherlands we say, “wie de bal kaatst kan hem terug verwachten”.

Goodbye John Lear, have fun supporting Billy, who is a known hoaxer.

Known hoaxer?
Obvious for you, and for many others as well, but don’t forget it counts absolute not for everyone.

I wish all the best for lear. It was a rough and bumpy road for him on ATS with all those bashings going on. Reading his writings brought smiles to my face rather frequently.

Rest up john lear, I, and all your friends here on ATS will be waiting for your next point of contact.

Thanks for that, you will have to find another old man to pick on now

*edit*ironic aint it,i say that and the man comes back to say he didnt walk out-

A trusted friend has informed me, and I have seen it straight from John. There's no point in saying anymore, if Lear wanted to publicly say why he wants to leave he would have done so.

There was an issue with another CM that was handled badly on both sides, but ultimately resolved, that may have been the "straw", but he was talking about wanting to spend more time doing other things for a while and now he can.

It's not like he can't post here, he can, his membership is still open and in good standing.

In any case he was NOT "asked to leave" it was his choice and his alone and most definitely his right to do what he wants with his time.

Springer...

You are being less than forthcoming here Springer.

So lets see here. Apparently my ban has been lifted.

On Monday morning January 28 Skeptic Overlord bans me for suspicion of fabricating Ritzmann and Biedny quotes.

When he finds out Monday evening that somebody lied and that it is not true he continues my ban, but not the others which was in effect until today.

Today I have supposedly 'voluntarily resigned' as conspiracy master.

Mind if I post all of your emails to me on Monday January 28 Skeptic Overlord?

Especially the one where you say in order for my ban to be lifted I have to agree with the others who were banned that the fiasco will never be known by the 'public forum'.

I never did agree to the cover-up so why am I now unbanned?

Thanks.
