Now that's a new idea. I assume you boil them first and then roast? I haven't tried that or even heard of it but i am going to. Perhaps Saturday

Hey there Boondock78. No, as far as i am aware, humus, or the proper and original humus, is only made from chick peas. However, there is a dip made
from garbanzo beans. I have also heard of "humus" being made with garbanzo beans but the proper ingredient is chick peas - as far as i know.

Some of the things I like are salt, garlic salt, curry, cayenne pepper and coriander (not all at the same time) but I'm still experimenting. Once
you've cooked them, just toss them in a bit of oil and seasoning and then roast them on a baking sheet until they're browned. You should shake them
around every 15 minutes or so for even browning. Takes somewhere between 30 - 45 minutes at 375.
It makes a great healthy snack, somewhat similar to corn nuts. Very tasty!
I think chickpeas and garbanzos are the same thing.

i think you can make hummus with chili peppers too..i dont know im not a hummus expert by far just something i thought i heard

Love dat stuff, but gotta have it in a classic mezze style 3 with tatzeki and Taramassallaata.
Think my spelling gland is acting up again.

Ok here it is. I made some hummus on saturday. I used a whole bag of chickpeas and soaked for about 20 hours and then boiled. Then i took half of them
in the processor and added about a 1/4 cup of oil (darn olive oil was finished) and then some fresh lemon juice to taste some peri peri spice, also to
taste but really only a pinch, then about half a clove of fresh garlic - but add to taste. Then i went out and bought an assortment of crackers.
Well needless to say my wifem aunt and myself munched down and AGAIN last night AND gave some to my mom. It was absolutely fabulous.
Now the other half i did as Duzey suggested - rolled them in a little oil and spiced with some salt and cumin power. Thouth the flavour was great they
didn't have as nice a texture as i expected and seemed a little dry. Perhaps i did them too long but was about 45 mins at 180*C which i guess is
about 375*F.
Anyway, a good munch was enjoyed by all sentenced.

I was always afraid to try hummus becasue I didn't know what it was. Ever since my first taste I fell in love with the stuff. I like to make a well
in the hummus and put in some olive oil and sprinkle with a little pepper. Then dip with fresh pita bread or toasted pita chips.
Garlic is the best flavor when buying store bought. I will agree that there are some store brands out there that aren't very tasty.
It's a fairly healthy, stick to your ribs, snack too!
