The 5th of November has always been a strange date.

It's supposed to be about the thwarted attempt of Guy Fawkes to blow up the houses of parliament, to which we burn the effigy of Guy Fawkes on a bonfire, yet we also use fireworks that explode to celebrate as well.

Seems kinda twisted to me. How can you celebrate the failure of something with the exact theoretical method that would have been used to do the deed?

It's almost like the 5th of November is celebrated by two groups. Those who glorify Guys defeat and those who wish he succeeded.

The defeatists are those who burn him on the fire, and the 'well wishers' use fireworks.
The irony is that both groups now do nothing more than help to pay more taxes to the government and to help the government continue doing that which Mr. Fawkes tried to stop.

So, without further interuprion, this is now an official one more post towards March the 13th ...and my new T-shirt

I am content with my guess. I still think it will be the date I guessed. No need for second guessing.

If so then I'd like to put forward my EXACT time and Date.

I'm brand spankin new to ATS. If you all don't mind I'd like to take March 3rd as the date. No special reason just the first date that came to mind and doesn't look like it's taken. GOOD LUCK!

I guessed an exact time, but I don't think its necessary.

To the best of my knowledge, if you guess the same day as someone else you split the points and you each get half a t-shirt .

I actually don't know. Whoever is closer should win the prize, but I can't say for sure.

We're up to 3,852,056 posts. At 3.9 million the guesses are closed.

Anyone willing to take up some friendly bets? If we can do 100K posts in 2 weeks I'll win so let's get going folks .

For some reason I also agree with March 23rd...... haven't checked anything but when i started reading....

"hey, say march 23rd" (little voice inside my head that tells me what to do)

or maybe between today and next year same date.....does that work??? leaves it open

I pick March 25th. Cant go wrong being close to AccessDenied and JacKatMtn guesses. (At least I hope not.) Wanted the March 17th, I kinda like that date, but it was taken. So went for next best thing. Good luck all.

As both a commemoration to Gandhi and the good that he did, and the specifics (rate of change, relativity, etc) of Postings, I have chosen the 12th of March 2008 as the day of the four millionth post.

What shall this rare day be known as?

Anyways, it is a day in which I will celebrate by posting as much as I possibly can (while following the rules of course)
