2004 Tsunami Aid spent on social/political engineering.

THREE years after Australians donated $400 million to rebuild Asian lives devastated by the 2004 tsunami, aid groups are under attack for spending much of the money on social and political engineering.

A survey by The Australian of the contributions by non-government organisations to the relief effort found the donations had been spent on politically correct projects promoting left-wing Western values over traditional Asian culture.

It seems that political correctness is becoming a new export - now everyone can share in the dubious wonders of "multiculturalism", "diversity" and "a plural society"!

That aside, it's a shame that this money is spent on furthering political/social machinations, as opposed to helping those communities affected by the tsunami get back on their feet.

I mean, it's all nice that they're trying to bring "Western" ideas/movements to those affected, but "creating trade unions, starting industrial activist groups, promoting the importance of the Koran" etc doesn't quite qualify as "Tsunami aid", does it?
