The cost of Final Fantasy VII...

Topic started on 31-12-2007 @ 03:58 AM by Nutrients

This past summer my apartment was broken into. Among other things, my entire video game collection was taken, including NES, SNES, GC, PS and PS2 games. Most of the collection, aside from the GC and PS2 games, is irreplaceable.

Anyhow, I decided recently that I think I want to try replacing my PS-generation Final Fantasy titles. I hopped on Amazon and found FF8 for $15 and FF9 for $20, both brand new.

FF7 was a different story, however. They don't offer new copies, but you can get them used for around $60! What?! Why are 8 and 9 available but not 7?

This makes me wonder if Square-Enix is planning a re-release. I know there were rumors going around about a complete remake on the PS3, but those were shut down. I feel like I've got my finger on the pulse of the gaming industry, but I haven't heard anything about a re-release.

Has anyone else tried to procure a copy of FF7 lately? Any suggestions as to where I can find a cheaper copy? Heard any new re-release/remake rumors?

Thanks in advance!

Haven't heard anything in particular about a remake since the failed PS3 attempt.

That's just one of those games that tend to sell for a very high price online.

Considering it's generally thought by most to be the greatest RPG ever made, it's not surprising at all.

I couldn't find any info on a sequel, but I agree that FFVII is the greatest rpg ever made.

I was able to pick up a used final fantasy 7 game for the play station at a local video game store out here. you go there to buy, sell and trade games. i would recomend finding a game store that sells used games if you're looking to pick up a cheap copy.

ffvii is my favorite rpg though x and xii are right up there

Here its 60 dollars for it! Thankfully I still have mine from all those years ago. Still doesn't beat playing pong until 3am when you have exams the next day. Man those were good times.

Yeah, that was the tech demo showing the real-time processing of the PS3 and it started some rumors about a remake. Square denied this, though, so I'm wondering if they are working on something else.

I do miss my FF7.

They upped the price of the game, cause the movie came out.
They probably figured that after "Advent Children" came out that people would want to replay the game, or play it for the first time.
Try EBay. I saw a copy of it there a few months back for 20$.

My girlfriend still has her copy from way back and I have a copy for my computer. You could do a search for it on the net like the previous poster suggested but there's nothing quite like having an orginal boxed version. Queue the bright white lights and choir sounds of ohhhhhhhhhh

It wasn't a "failed" remake. It was a PS3 Tech Demo showing what FF7 would look like on the PS3 hardware. They did the same with PS2 with Final Fantasy 6.

My gut feeling is that Final Fantasy 7 Will NOT be remade for the Console. It will be remade for a Handheld which is what they are doing with Final Fantasy 1-3.

'

actually, they never intended to remake the whole game. The point of that demonstration was to recreate the first 5 minutes of the game with playable graphics that were comparable to the original rendered cutscenes from the original game.

edit: maybe next time I'll read all the posts before replying.
