Hey it's my first post on ATS but I've been reading the forum for quite a while now and i gotta admit i'm almost addicted to it. I wasn't sure where to post my question but here it is:

I'm from Quebec, canada , and I'm going on a roadtrip through the USA(down the east coast, maybe I'll even cross to mexico for a little times and after that i'm going up the west coast to end up in the canadian west to work for a few months).I would like you to tell me about all of the weird places, or ''must-see'' you know near this area.I don't have any itinerary yet so feel free to suggest many places!

By far, here's what i got:

-112 Ocean Avenue,in Amityville
-The Fox sisters cabin in hydesville
-The winchester mystery house San jose
-Antietam , Near Sharpsburg, Maryland
-West Virginia State Penitentiary in Moundsville
-Kentucky Fried Chicken Museum located in KFC corporate headquarters in Louisville (haha)
-GATLINBURG, TENNESSEE, Salt and pepper museum
-The texas crystal skull
-Area 51 and the extraterrestrial highway.
-Alcatraz

That's about it for now, so what should i add?

The weirdest place I've seen was located somewhere on the road from New Paltz to Catskils in upstate New York. It was a side road (not the interstate) and it was along some sort of river with rocky banks. The area looked deserted and there was an acute sense of discomfort in both myself and my trip partner. It was in a broad daylight. There was something that looked like a small hydro station or a pump facility. The road was elevated. It's too bad I can't give you the exact coordinates. That place gave me freaking shivers.

Here about 10 miles from my house is this Oregon Vortex

I was going to suggest the same place. Another interesting place in the northwest is a ranch by Mount Adams that supposedly has a lot of UFO traffic. I think you need to set up an appointment with the owner, but there are some interesting videos on the internet of it.

Thanks Karlhungis I was wondering about places around here, I will definately look into that and keep ATS informed already some people have told me some pretty interesting stuff around southern oregon where I am located.

Hmmm, i could recommend where to see weird people, but places.....

Well, if you come to Provincetown, you could have a little of both.

Just drive, you are sure to come upon some rare sights!!!!

No problem. I grew up in Southern Oregon as well. I don't remember many "weird" places other than the vortex though. I would say that Crater Lake is probably the biggest "must see" when traveling through the state though. But that is just for tourism purposes, not really for any sort of a freak show tour or anything.

And that is a list of haunted sites in Oregon. It does mention Wizard Island, which is in the middle of Crater Lake. So, maybe Crater Lake could be considered a stop for a weird trip. I think it is a little difficult getting a boat to go to Wizard Island though.

Here's another one similar to The Oregon Vortex, located in Santa Cruz, called the mystery spot. I've been there twice, and it is a very odd experience, its houses built on a very gentle hill, somehow when you stand in the houses you feel like you're gonna fall over. Obviously, you would think the houses are built in the opposite angle, thus creating an "extra" boost......

Anyhow, it's very fascinating and I recommend a visit

I am not an American nor do I live in the USA, but I can tell you that the Amityville legend is allegedly a complete hoax, a fabrication.

More importantly though, you should absolutely NOT miss Leedskalnin's "Coral Castle" near Miami, in Florida (it includes the "key to the secret of the Universe", no less! ; )).

The Hudson Valley is reputedly one of the "weirdest" places in the entire USA regarding "inexplicable" physical and/or paranormal phenomena.

Also, if I recall correctly, there is place in North Virginia which contains a "vortex" of sorts - something like that...
(I am sure somebody will hasten to correct me. )

There are plenty of good informative websites on the internet.
One of them is the "Paranormal" section at www.about.com
If I remember correctly, it includes vast amounts of information on what you're looking for.

One location I plan on visiting at some point is in Georgia. Georgia Guide Stones

I also lived in the Verde Valley of Arizona for some time and there is lots of nuts that live in sedona that claim a UFO is under Bell Rock. As well as many vortex's.

Actually I have a story from there. My father is a contractor there for building houses and he was building this house for someone that wanted their house aligned with the vortex's of sedona.

Well He built the house with some guy that claimed he knew where the vortex's were and when it was done it was off by like 6 ft afterwards and he had to completely redesign the house and redo it. The guy that was the vortex guy took the blame but the homeowner didn't care and paid for it to be done again. What a NUT!!! He also had this HUGE crystal in his house, the size of a coffee table.

I recommend Sedona, AZ for the beauty and the wierdness!!!

Salem is a must see.
As well as the Lizzie Borden bed and breakfast.

A place where there are cryptids, UFOs, and other weird things/phenomena is the Bridgewater Triangle.

It's in South East Massachusetts.


Just look it up in a search engine and you'll find a ton of info. about this huge place full of extremely weird 'stuff'.

Also, in the center of the Bridgewater Triangle lies a huge swamp, which I think is the biggest in New England.


It's called the Hokomock Swamp I believe, and who knows what lies in there--maybe Bigfoot, maybe time is distorted there, freaky energy fields, etc.

Cassadaga is a really unique place, indeed. I've been there a few times as well and it does have a really cool feeling about it.

Supposedly it sits atop an intersection of ley lines and that is why it was attractive to so many physics, mediums, etc. There are some really interesting people around there...but you need to visit for a bit to meet them and stay away from the commercial 'I'll read your palm for 40 bucks' vendors.
