Unbelievable, they say she was swinging a hammer but honestly how hard and fast could a woman that hold swing a hammer??
This is happening so frequently, people are just beginning to ignore the stories until someone dies of course..

CHICAGO — Chicago's Police Department is investigating an officer's use of a Taser last month on an 82-year-old woman who police say was
swinging a hammer when they arrived.
Lillian Fletcher was rushed to the hospital after being jolted by the Taser last week, but has since been released, police said Tuesday.
Tasers use compressed nitrogen to fire two barbed darts that can penetrate clothing to deliver a 50,000-volt shock to immobilize people.
Touted by law enforcement officials as less lethal than other ways of subduing combative people in high-risk situations, the weapons have come under
fire around the country after they were blamed for several deaths.
Officials with the city's Department on Aging went to Fletcher's home Oct. 29 to check on her, and called police when they saw Fletcher in a window
swinging a hammer back and forth, police spokeswoman Monique Bond said Tuesday.
Officers arrived and in an attempt to subdue Fletcher one of them used their Taser, Bond said. The department is trying to determine if the officer
violated department policy regarding the use of stun guns.
On Tuesday, Fletcher said officers had pushed their way into her home. "They shocked me," she said.
Fletcher at times sounded confused during the telephone interview. Her granddaughter Traci Taylor told the Chicago Sun-Times that her grandmother
suffers from schizophrenia and dementia.
"My grandmother is easily confused," Taylor told the newspaper, adding that the elderly woman can be belligerent but is about 5 feet 1 and no more
than 160 pounds.
"I just don't think they should be Tasing 82-year-old women. That's ridiculous," Taylor said.
In 2005, then-Chicago Police Superintendent Phil Cline temporarily suspended the distribution of stun guns following the deaths of two people after
police shot them with Tasers.

That is ridiculous. I also don't understand what she was doing? Swinging a hammer, thats illegal now?

If the cops say it's bad to swing a hammer, then it must be bad. Besides, we know these heroes would never be scared if there really wasn't a
threat.\

WOW ... impressive. You found a possible mistake someone made while they were doing there job and picked it apart. I wonder what would happen if every
misjudgement you made while you were hard at work was written up in a newspaper and that made every good thing you have ever did virtually disappear.
Also i am not saying that they used poor judgement i wasnt there. And yes you would be EXTREMELY surprised at the strength the elderly can have when
they are in a state of dementia / mental crisis and believe they are being attacked by something only they can see or they perceive the person in the
room with them as an "enemy". Before you judge someone on there actions walk a couple miles in their shoes.... or next to their shoes, i believe all
agencys have a ride along program. You can ride and gain a better understanding.

I didnt pick anything apart, I posted what was written on the news site. Even you must be smart enough to know that right?
Cops are abusing their power and taseing people that really dont need to be tased, 8 year old children to 90 year old senior citizens arent going to
be so much of a threat that they would need to be SHOCKED into submission..
Think before you talk, its a simple concept.
btw, i had my own personal "ride along" program for over 30 years.
My Father retired from the Dallas Police and I road along with him
several times, even as a child.
This was way before they had tasers and he was never beaten by a 82 year old woman.

Must have been pension day.
The old buggers go crazy when they get that cash in their hands.
A little extreme perhaps.
Crazy world.

Lol, yea she was probably just trying to Bingo after getting her social security check
Seriously though, this is just another example of cops using actions instead of words because they are lazy or just want to fire their tasers.
I would be willing to bet that just a few minutes of talking and understanding with the woman, she wouldve dropped the hammer on her own.

It appears you like to make broad statements and have others agree with you. It does not appear you are looking for knowledge about the topic you
posted or have an open mind to others points of view.
"think before you talk" and "even you must be smart enough to know that right?" ... apparently you were able to deduct alot about who i am from
one short post ... you must be very intuitive.
I wont respond to further posts by you on this thread because i dont think it would be productive and in hindsight i dont think your intention behind
starting the post was to learn i think it was to bash an easy victim.
