I'm fed up with this, I have varmints in my garden.

This was taken about 5:30 AM today, and the bugger is after my garden.
Damn thing is, I live on the third floor............


You can see his face through the avocado leaves in this first shot.




And right after that he just strolls past the Sansiveria like he owned the place.




Anyone have a good recipe for these.

Try this stuff or something similar.

I'm a big fan of natural pest control. It's hard to call raccoons pests though because they're so cute, but then, I don't have a garden they're destroying, either.

One of our neighbors had a cat that would come use my kid's rubber play mat as a scratching post. I used coyote pee to "mark" my territory and it stayed away, so I know this works. At least on cats.

I may not have been clear, but I don't want to scare it away.
I want a recipe to cook it.

If it eats my vegetables, I intend to eat it to get back my loss.



EDIT: We don't have coyotes where I live, and I don't think I'd try to make one pee on my garden.

Wouldn't a coyote bite me if I tried to grab it's penis and aim it towards the veggies.

Try some Chinese cooking websites. They eat ANYTHING! I bet you there's a recipe for Kung-Pow Raccoon

That site I gave you sells coyote pee.

As far as cooking raccoon goes, I'd go with roasting it like a turkey, same amount of time per pound.

You're quite welcome. My uncle and stepfather used to bring in wild game all the time, but they never brought home a raccoon. I'd be interested in knowing what it tastes like.

One thought that might give me pause personally, is that animals tend to be flavored by what they've been eating. And 'coons eat a lot of garbage ...

Not so badass to an urban hunter.

Pigeons are just ghetto chickens.
You can hunt wild geese with bread and a 2x2 about 3 feet long.
And squirrels are just a meal waiting to happen if you can trap one.

Living in a city is no reason not to hunt for a meal once in a while.
A surprising amount of game meat is running the streets of my hood.

Lol, you guys are really out there today!

Nothing is going to repel raccoons if they're hungry. Here's two methods you might consider:

Call wildlife control and see if they have some live traps or know where you can rent one. Put food deep inside the cage on the trigger. Check it in the morning and if the critter is trapped in the cage release it in a park a good distance away where it will have all those stuffed garbage cans to eat from. Or call wildlife control to pick it up if they will. Do not play with the coon, it is wild and probably has a few viruses. Hissing is a warning sign.

Or, you can put out a bowl of dried catfood and a bowl of water for it every night and it will choose that over the avocadoes. Downside: might attract more wildlife such as possums and more raccoons.

Had 5 of these as pets when I was a kid. Love 'em alive and uneaten.

I'd be happy to get the raccoon, but if I can get a possum to stuff, that would just be a bonus. Possums are considered an invasive species here and it's open season.

I'll try the cat kibble tonight and see what happens.
If it works, I'll try to kill whatever comes to feed, unless it a cat.

Lol, go ahead, tangle with a coon, see what happens.

You do have good medical coverage, right? Lol, enjoy the rabies shots, just bite down on a 2 X 2, heard it helps keep the screaming down.

My question -- where did you get the sprout to grow avocados??

I've tried growing the seed/pit, to no avail. But, I've been told that if I ever get the friggin' things to grow, it won't be a fruit-producing tree.
