BEIJING – A freelance reporter for a Beijing television station has been detained for faking a hidden camera report about street vendors who used chemical-soaked cardboard to fill meat buns, local media said Thursday.

I first posted this story when it broke a few days ago shocked and disgusted.Now I'm even more shocked and disgusted that someone would fake a story like this.

This smells like a Chinese cover-up.

They are getting battered (pun intended) on food safty issues at the moment. And this barely a week after they shot their government food dude!

I guess this'll kill the Buns of Cardboard marketing campaign. You know the one for the people where Buns of Steel is probably an unreasonable goal.
