The official website for the game "Sadness" ,which is to be released in 2007, asks if you are 21 or over before continuing on the website. (Go
to Projects, then to Sadness)
Gamespot has information on the game here or you can read it on the official site. The game is going to be entirely in black and white.
It looks like it will be because of the horror aspects of it. This is very interesting as it seems that Nintendo and an AO rating don't really mix.
Here is a short description of the game...

This looks like one of the more interesting games coming out for the wii. I can't wait to see how good it is. Hope they don't go towards an AO
rating though as that will kill sales...

Interesting. So AO would that imply that the game contains nudity? Even the most bloody games like Silent Hill aren't rated above "M." Isn't it
illegal for video game stores to sell anything above an M rating?

im just wondering where the ps3 fanboys are to stop in and say......
"teh wii is a kiddie system"
nintendo realized their mistake by avoiding games for older players and they arent about to make this same mistake with the wii. how do i know
this? well reggie begged rockstar to bring gta to the wii.
nintendo lost the top place it held in the video game market over the last 1o years if u dont count gameboys. they went back, rethought their
position in the gaming market , and they realized they need violent , adult type games to have a chance to be #1.
i cant wait for sadness. adult games like gta dont interest me, but this game looks like its for " intelligent " adults. something i wouldnt mind
losing hours of my life to. 1 hour of my life was lost to gta, and id like that back.
peace

here is something i found on youtube about sadness. it looks very unusual, and im sure people will say it looks stupid. this youtube video only
increases my desire to know more about this game. i wonder if it has sexual content considering its ao rating. just image the flood of ps fanboys
to the wii if there is something pornographic on the wii.
here is video, peace

I personally don't think it will have nudity, That is not really done in games,
Although being English we don't have lettered rating's here (just pg, 12, 15, 18) and there are many games that are 18's (GTA one of them, resident
evil and I assume silent hill are 15's) I assume M means "mature" but all this means is this game is going to set in a really maccabre mood and/or
scare the crap out of us, don't hold your breath for any nudity whatsoever.
Other than that it sounds really interesting, can't wait to see some game footage...

I don't think it means anything other than hype. The question says, are you over 21 suffer from a heart condition or a nervous disposition. I think
they are just trying to say that this game is so scary that certain people shouldn't play it. It's basically just a ad campaign.

That's a possibility. I just don't see how they will sell many of these games, since EB Games, Wal-Mart, and Best Buy refuse to carry AO rated games
for consoles. The only possibility I see so far is if they sell it through their site.

I buy most games online so I'm sure that avenue for sales will be their best bet. I'm looking forward to this game, although it does look a little
depressing

I'm sure many "just" video game stores will sell it, thats what we mainly have in England, although supermarket stores have been selling games over
the past 2 years or so, not many of them are all that good, OH yeah they get the new ones but for proper adult games your best going to a video game
store...

sounds like an advertising campaign to me. Looks like a horror gore kind of game, though i haven't seen much of it yet. though there are degrees of
horror gore. PS2 has their decapitations and blood spurting every now and then, and i would assume that xBox would be the same. but those games are
not "Horror". Silent Hill was rather creepy, though i was too scared to go on i assume that it packed some gore in it somewhere, though from seeing
the movie its not very gory in the majority, but video game movies are rarely accurate, heck, even book movies and EVEN most remakes are totally
different. anyway, if this is classified as an AO game, with no sex, then i would assume that it will contain some more disturbing and shocking
content rather then just exploding people and gibs flying all over the place. this "Disturbing" aspect i will greatly look forward too. we need more
games that resemble the Original cult Horror films, not just the slasher ones of today. cmon, scare the pants off me

this game could be an instant hit if its so damn creepy that it gives u nightmares and almost makes u not wana play. id love a game that was as
freaked out as the first texas chainsaw massacre movie , or the original night of the dead. on the other hand this game could be a major flop, id
prob bet on the latter.
here is a little info i found on sadness. the whole game plays in black and white. that is a good start to a horror game. found this on ign.
wii.ign.com...
First off, Sadness is not a working title for their premiere Wii title. It's the final name. The story takes place before World War I, slated earlier
than 1914. In addition, Nibris officially stated that the style for Sadness is meant to be totally unique. It isn't inspired by Sin City, it isn't a
"classic comic book feel," it's its own style. In fact, the look it chose is more influenced by the era's black and white cinema. Players should
get the feeling of a pre-1920s movie. In addition, Nibris added that Sadness will focus in a Slavic country. Specifics will be released later.
this game could spawn a whole new genre if it rules. kinda like gta spawned so many ripoffs. peace

Funny you should say that cuz I was thinking the exact same thing. In GTA 3 the hook that drew quite a lot of people in was that you could have sex
with hookers to increase your health a bit. No one over the age of 20 admitted it of course, but I'm sure everyone was ... well not exactly eager,
but curious as to how Rockstar would deploy it. Of course that now pales in comparison with the "Hot Coffee" scandal. I don't really like the
Horror genre or games of the same ilk, but if this does succeed, hopefully the gameplay will make it's way into other types of non-horror games.

I've never heard of the "Hot Coffee" scandel until you said it in your post.
I read that it was a "cheat" minigame, so how did it work and what did you have to do, or was it just a cinematic.
Can it work on ps2? I read it can be done with a cheat code, what is it? I've had it since the first day it was out so I don't have a recalled
altered version...

It was hardcoded into the game but was never released and you had to download a 3rd party mod to unlock it. It was a mini-game like the dance dance
rev minigame or the low rider competition. Fill in the blanks.

Back to sadness, from their website it seems that the character you play will be rather Schizophrenic, and possibly be able to take different paths on
the voice you choose to listen to.(theory)
There won't be masses of bloodshed but there will be murder and deaths.
From images i've seen there is a wolf, I was thinking maybe you are a Werewolf and this is were the Schizoprenia comes in.
Maybe you can eat/bite people but you may want to eat animals to avoid suspicion.(again theory)
Is there a release date for this or not, I can't wait to here more FACTS about this game, rather than just my own speculation...

Not sure if' you've read this yet, but here are some links with a sample of some ingame music. Very haunting string piece.

also...
Fans holding their breath for any new in-game shots might as well pass out now; Nibris has said that they will not publish any screens without the
direct approval of their publisher.

BTW, my theory on the game is this:
It's not going to be a conventional game and will actually draw liberally from a long neglected genre: slide show gaming,(ala Myst, Deathgate, etc),
except this will allow you to take multiple branching paths maybe with some types of minigames interspersed within.
Just think for a moment. The only way to get photo realistic "game play" is to do it via a slide show technique.

Yes I see what you mean with the music. Now the only reason I say that you could be a Werewolf is from this pic.
Although on the IGN site it says this under the image:
"One of the game's many Slavic legend-inspired enemies"
I want to point out the word "Enemies", if it was an enemy wouldn't the wolf in the image have PAWS rather than Finger's were the paws would
be?
Also I think it would fit seeing as a wolf would be colour blind and the game is black and white...

SO it could be full of little puzzles and stuff you think???
That would be good.
I have Myst IV: revelation, it came with my PC, although it's good I've hit a point were the puzzles make no sense and it doesn't really help out
in any way...
I must say though, on Ibris's website they are talking about a revelutionary type of gameplay, something that hasn't been done before but it could
be similar...
