President Bush in Alabama

I took this picture with with Camera phone from the South Bound side of I-65 near the Lakeshore Parkway exit. Bush was traveling north on I-65 toward Birmingham. He was coming from Hoover where he congratulated the city for using alternative fuels to power all city vehichles and was on his way to Birmingham for a fund raiser for Governor Bob Riley.

You know on second thought it probably wasn't such a good idea to hold my phone out the window pointed toward the presidential envoy. I am probably on some watchlist now lol.

now, what is stopping a terrorist from launching a missile from his car (from the position you were at) and hitting bush's limo???

Thats a good question. I was only about 30 feet away from the motorcade. I wonder why they didn't close the south bound side as well, that would have made more sense.

While it may be just another pic of the presidential motorcade enroute, to some. The fact that it was taken and posted by a member of this fine Community makes it just as unique as ATS.

I think they see ALL asks an interesting question? What would stop anyone from doing such, or similar? Obviously, as in the photo, there are Many accompanying "escort" vehicles to protect and serve, but with the opposing lane of travel open who/what could prevent such an effort/attempt? Honestly, it's not as if his schedule wasn't known or announced. A PR shout-out to the City of Hoover, then on to Birmingham for a backslap session with Bob Riley, with available routes obviously limited.

... you know, with all the terrorists looking to harm us, why the desire to attack the body of a populace to demonstrate their capabilities, or make a statement? ... why not the head of that which they are at war with?

Hmmm ...
Our [the US] current enemy can orchestrate/accomplish the training to succeed in hijacking of 4 commercial airliners, "fly" them into the twin towers, a hole in the ground, and the portion of a building recently reinforced to withstand such or similar class of attack. Yet they Obviously can't seem to orchestrate/accomplish the significance of striking their adder at it's head.
