Alternate World War II

Topic started on 13-9-2006 @ 09:55 PM by maynardsthirdeye

I've always been fascinated by the various "what-if" scenarios involving World War II. I'm amazed at how close Hitler was to winning the war and the idiotic mistakes he made that prevented him from doing so. I bought the book "Third Reich Victorious" and I was looking into "How Hitler Could Have Won World War II"

Does anyone know of any other good books on the subject or any good websites?

I think this ought to be what you are looking for:

www.amazon.com...

As a historian and collector of books, I find this alternative possibility unsettling...but still a good read.

Thanks for the suggestions (including the one for your book). Both look to be interesting reads.

Whenever I think of this sort of thing, the event known as The Miracle at Dunkirk. It never ceases to amaze me how utterly stupid the Nazis were to let over 300000 allied troops escape, when they could have totally devastated them.

I haven't actually read any of these, but Harry Turtledove has written a ton of alternate history. I'm not sure whether he's ever tackled WWII, but if I were an alternate history writer, it would be one of the first I did.
