not only will the people of the world mourn this loss, the animals of the world will grieve with us. his wife was probably with him at the time of
the incident , she always seemed to be at his side, so i feel really bad for her.
i now pour my fosters in his memory.

I mean no disrespect but, I think we all saw this one coming. Everytime I watched the show I would say this fool is going to be killed. But you know
what, he went out doing what he loved to do...informing the masses about animals. He knew the risks but he unlike most of us saw what he wanted in
life and wouldn't let anything stop him.
R.I.P Steve Irwin...

Steve Irwin Killed
Well the guys dead. Its said, but its the risk he took to jump into and around hordes of nasty predators. Had to figure it would happen eventually.
Honestly, I dont have much sympathy, about as much as I did when the Grizzly man got eaten by..well..a grizzly.
Natural Selection I guess.
But I mean, I will miss his work, I think he did a good job showing people the world of aussie animals.
And atleast he died doing what he loved: pissing animals off.

The news here is that his wife is hiking in Tasmania somewhere at the moment so there is a chance that she hasn't heard the news yet. (see link
below)
Doubley tragic - my thoughts go to her and the kids.

I actually find myself quite saddened. He was someone who was both cool and uncool at the same time in a weird way. There's another South African
guy who goes around picking up really dangerous snakes but he's just kind of creepy. Steve Irwin's unaffected, slightly unhinged and bug-eyed,
enthusiasm was infectious and strangely warming. Plus he was interesting enough that Cartman got hooked on him for an episode of South Park. ("I'm
just going to stick my thumb... up this croc's ass...")
He also featured his family in his programmes, and it's particularly sad to think how they'll all be grieving right now. I'd think he'd be going
"WOW! I went kinda EARLY, but mate, I had a REALLY GOOD RUN while I was around!" He'd somehow find something really great about being dead... but
his wife and kids must have a huge hole in their lives right now.

STEVE Irwin, one of Australia's most well-known figures, has died at the age of 44.
It is understood Irwin, a psssionate conservationist and wildlife advocate, was killed when a stingray barb went through his chest.
Irwin spent every day working with all manner of dangerous creatures - giant crocodiles, poisonous snakes, komodo dragons - but it was a less obvious
hazard that claimed his life.
Irwin had taken calculated risks with all sorts of wildlife for decades, relying on his knowledge of animal behaviour and personal experience to beat
the odds.
For someone who spent so much time around killer animals, Irwin seemed to leave a charmed life.
So his demise was all the more shocking because it apparently involved a stingray, an animal regarded as dangerous but not as a killer.

Here an obituary and below is another story confirming his death.
An intensive care doctor and a paramedic attempted to revive the popular crocodile wrangler without success.
He was pronounced dead on the island, and his body is now being flown to Cairns.
Mr Irwin - known worldwide as the Crocodile Hunter - is famous for his enthusiasm for wildlife and his catchcry "Crikey!".

They aren't. They're only lethal if they tear an artery, or hit you in the chest region. If they get you in the leg, you're more likely to suffer
tearing damage from the stinger coming out of your leg than from the venom. They won't even actively use their stinger. Probably 99% of stings are
accidents from stepping on them or brushing against it as you swim near them (which probably was the case here). A Stingray will always try to just
swim away from danger instead of trying to defend itself, and a sting is an instinctive reaction.
RIP Steve Irwin, you'll be missed.

its good to think his wife didnt witness his death.
he might have pissed off animals , but he probably did more for them then 99% of humans.
did anyone else think this guy looked like rowdy piper? i always had that impression when i saw him.

Wow, that really sucks. No more Steve Irwin. I feel for his wife and little girl...he took them everywhere with him (also putting thieir lives at
risk.)
I hate to say this, but at least it was him and not his daughter. That man had it coming to him, poking those poor animals. Krikey!
R.I.P. Your animal molesting antics will be missed by many.

I always thought he was a pretty cool guy, aside from that one bonehead incident where he held his newborn child above a crocodile while feeding it
raw meat. He's lucky his child wasn't taken away for that stunt.
I also got many laughs out of all the Steve Irwin impersonators. Especially the one on the "Bum Fights" DVD that treated homeless people like they
were crocs. He would sneak up on one and duct tape him like a crocodile, and then show the camera his teeth and talk about what kind of species of
bum it was. I know, its terrible and I'm probably going to hell.
RIP Steve Irwin.
I went swimming with sting rays in the Caribbean about a year and a half ago and they are such the gentle creature. Their body feels like silk and
they brush up on legs ever so gracefully. They really are peaceful creatures, but I know they can be deadly. My dad used to go fishing and once we
went at night (this was when I used to live in the Caribbean, 10 years ago), and he actually caught a stingray. I was terrified because I was young.
The stingray kept thrashing in the water and my dad had trouble holding it back. He eventually cut the line. I respect stingrays but I know their
power.
