There is no reality, except in action. Man is nothing else than his plan. He exists only to the extent that he fulfills himself. He is, therefore,
nothing else than the ensemble of his acts, nothing else than his life.
--Jean Paul Sartre

What Ghandi and the vast majority of people, it seems, fail to understand is that the admonition, "an eye for an eye," is not a call to remove eyes,
or even to justify retribution, but rather to insist that the punishment should fit the crime, which is a very rational appeal.
Taken in the context in which "an eye for an eye" is intended, Ghandi's quote makes no sense.
Grady, I fail to see this.
If somebody crosses you, human nature tells you to respond quickly. Where does this response leave you? Does it fix the initial pain?
I take a family member from you, you take one of mine. Where does that leave us?
An eye for an eye will leave us all bind.
Wrong or not, I like it.

Just because, here's some terrific quotes from the much beloved Princess Diana:
I like to be a free spirit. Some don't like that, but that's the way I am.
I've got to have a place where I can find peace of mind.
I'm as thick as a plank.
