I have always been fascinated with quotes. Famous or not.
How about each of us post ONE (1) quote and see what kind of collection we can come up with?
To be accurate and fair, you have to also include the author unless it's anonymous of course.
Napoleon Bonaparte
"True heroism consists in being superior to the ills of life, in whatever shape they may challenge us to combat."
Semper
ps. Of course that's only one per post. You can always come back and post again...

Well not sure how famous those were, but amusing anyway.

I really like this one, especially for the younger crowd.
Aim at the sun and you may not reach it; but your arrow will fly far higher than if you had aimed at an object on a level with yourself.

"Come gather 'round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You'll be drenched to the bone.
If your time to you
Is worth savin'
Then you better start swimmin'
Or you'll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin'."

Here is another very interesting quote .....
''Evil is not an actual substance, but absence of good; just as darkness is nothing but absence of light. "Reflections on the Eight Thoughts",
Abba Evagrius,
"Early Fathers From the Philokalia,"
translated from the Russian text, "Dobrotolubiye," by E. Kadloubovsky and G.E.H. Palmer, eighth edition, (London: Faber and Faber, Ltd., 1981), pp.

Bass fishermen watch Monday night football, drink beer, drive pickup trucks and prefer noisy women with big breasts. Trout fishermen watch
MacNeil-Lehrer, drink white wine, drive foreign cars with passenger-side air bags and hardly think about women at all. This last characteristic may
have something to do with the fact that trout fishermen spend most of the time immersed up to the thighs in ice-cold water.
