I contribute another forum that displays in Linear mode and threaded mode...
...or a combination of both.
The value of this is that it is easy to follow a discussion with an individual poster...
...and easy to find individual posts.
The Linear only mode at ATS means that new posts just get tacked on the end of the thread and it is difficult to follow discussion.
The software they use is vBulletin® Version 3.8.2
I would love to see it here...
...it would add depth and value to ATS BTS for me.

I'd really like to have a way to have a book mark per thread as "my last read post" in this thread .
Then be able to only show posts after that. Especially for big threads so I know where to start catching up again.
We'd probably have to manually mark such a bookmark, but that's fine.
And to be able to only show posts newer than {date}, in case I didn't set the bookmark. Or jump to the first post after a date-time.
I hate having to try to remember if I was on page 34, 54 or 112.

There are so many predictions and prophecies on ATS that it is often hard to follow the outcome. For example, today (the 11th of February) Iran was
supposed to deliver a punch to the West that would leave it stunned.
I scanned through the threads and I've read about 4 different outcomes: electric car, lasers, space missions and an earthquake reported in Iran that
could be a nuclear weapons test. Which is it? Or is it a combination thereof?
I think it would be nice to have a special prediction/prophecy board, where all of these events get their own thread, yet only moderators can post in
them. Then, as the date rolls by, a mod posts a brief summary of what went down with links to additional reading on ATS.
So, every prediction/prophecy thread would contain two posts: the OP which describes the prediction/prophecy and source, and a follow-up post with a
breakdown of the outcome and perhaps some links to further discussions on the matter. Or something to that effect.
I do realize this is a lot of research heavy work for the mods who run the board, but perhaps it's worth it, as it gives ATS the status of watchdog
for all those loose cannon prophecy attention seekers & fear mongerers out there.
Anyway, this is just a thought, keep up the good work ATS!

I think I put this on the wrong thread so I'll repost it here:
I HOPE, BTW, that something is being done in the overhaul to make finding replies to one's posts quick and easy.
I still say
WWW.FREEREPUBLIC.COM...
does the best on the web in terms of
COMMENTS pages where all the posts to the user and from the user are listed.
One can also go to one's FR home page and quickly click to get a listing of all their posts on the forum--in my case, all 90,000 + of them.
The ease of use and the ease of accomplishing all the basic common needs and desires in posting and navigating on such a forum are by far easier on FR
than any other forum. Virtually all FREEPERS assert that persistently.
One can quickly go to the various subforums on FR and get a listing of all the currently active threads--actually if one clicks back far enough--all
the threads in those forums.
FR only has a limited number of forums as that suits it's scope and needs. However, I think the model is great.
It also has 340,000 members--considerably more than ATS . . . and 1.2-2 million unique visitors/month.
I just think that if they can handle that much traffic with such quickness & ease of navigation on a volunteer donation NO ad basis, ATS can do a lot
better. It consistently takes a lot fewer clicks to accomplish the basics on FR than on ATS.
I'm convinced ATS could learn some good things from that.
The clunkiness of navigating ATS is one of the reasons I don't spend more time here. I particularly HATE not being able to QUICKLY, GET A LISTING OF
ALL THE POSTS TO ME IN RESPONSE TO MY POSTS.
Also, in each post on FR, there's a link to the post being replied to via it's number. And, the number of the post of that reply will be listed when
that post is posted . . . a continuous link back to the beginning of whatever chain of replies within a thread accrues thereby.
Another great feature is the capacity to address a post to specific users who may be interested. . . . individuals interested in that thread and that
sequence of main discussion or 'side-bars'
And there are dozens of PING LISTS. I maintain a couple with 150+ members--one on WYRD stuff . . . interested parties ask to be on the ping lists or
off if they get too bothered. Their screenames/user names are put in the addressee slot for that post. Very handy.
CONGRATS ON FINALLY GETTING AROUND TO SUCH A MAJOR OVERHAUL.
GREATLY APPRECIATE PROGRESS.

I love the idea of being able to strip the avatars out at will by a setting.
And maybe one to strip the signatures out.
I don't like the idea of losing points by posting. I don't think it would result in what you think it would.
And, points is one of the few fun things hereon. I don't know why they are no longer in the avatar column. What's the point of points if one can't
flaunt them! LOL.
I think there should be more ways to earn points and more possibilities of using them, meaningfully.
www.freerepublic.com...
is lean and mean in terms of wonderful text based basics without a lot of distracting, annoying hooplaw. Easy to follow a thread; check on your posts
and replies etc.

Hi
I became a member recently and was wondering if there was a link for NOOBS on this site. I had a look at the first video tutorial in the help section,
which was very helpful in describing how the site works and where to find stuff.
Do I need to watch all the videos to find how the star and flag system, for instance, works, or is there a searchable HELP DATABASE on the site
somewhere?
Thanks in advance...
regards

A section of streaming, breaking news video would be nice.
With all the natural disasters happening currently, it would be nice to have
something streaming.

How about a religious debate forum? That way when a religious debate pops up in , say....just about every forum topic on this board, it can be moved
to the religious debate forum. The majority of the threads started in the Conspiracies in Religion forum have nothing to do with conspiracies, but
everything to do with debating religion. If we could keep all this religious bickering in one area, it would make the other threads much more
readable. You may say that doesn't belong on a conspiracy site....but religious debating runs rampant on this conspiracy web site whether it's
supposed to be here or not.

No, I mean an actual religious debate forum. According to the forum rules, the The Faith, Religion, and Theology forum is
The Faith, Religion, and Theology forum exists as a place for member to discuss three important items.
* Faith - Belief that does not rest on logical proof or material evidence.
* Religion - A set of beliefs, values, and practices based on the teachings of a spiritual leader.
* Theology - The study of the nature of God and religious truth; rational inquiry into religious questions.
We can't begin to truly discuss these topics if we're constantly arguing about if God is real or not.
This says nothing about debate, but looks like it's for discussion for people who already have a belief in God. This is assuming that the original
thread "ALL MEMBERS READ - Moving Past Religion 101 and Staying on Topic" is current and hasn't been modified without notice in the beginning
OP.
