Not that its a worst ad ever but...

The ad for testing your IQ against obama etc has been driving me nuts... so I clicked on it and followed the link... I know stupid...

anyways what I notice is that it goes through the questions and then you have to, HAVE to, provide a cell phone number to get your results.

I checked out the T&C and it says...


I don't know about you but if this isn't DATA MINING then what is... they'll get your IP and then your phone and then your opinions.... then you can call the lawyer...

I think that ads like this should be removed from ATS and should be clearly identified by the Ad media company so that ATS has the ability to block ads that clearly break the rules of ATS. I did mention something like this earlier in reference to another ad that ATS seemed to have no control over. I know people have the option to respond or not but you can have links to porno sites too and that'll have to be decided too. Right?

and just in case someone wants to know my motive...
Just looking out for the ATS people that worry about their safety and security.

I just saw a top banner ad for a "hottest girls" site with an animation of 2 women kissing. We really don't need to have that stuff on ATS, do we?

Blech!!

I just logged in and saw this ad as well. Sort of upsetting that I cannot feel free to browse and enjoy ATS with adult website ads in clear view on my computer where my children walk by frequently.

I would be appreciative if they could be removed. otherwise I may have to visit only during bedtime hours =(

I would like to cast my vote for removing that newish blinking banner ad at the top of the screen that says "1,000,000 visitor click here!" or something equally stupid and then has a painfully high pitched beep, beep, beep until you leave the page.

I can deal with the obnoxious blinking, but is it really necessary to destroy my eardrums?

I wouldnt click an annoying link like that if they really did have a prize for my being the 1 millionth visitor. And we all know they actually dont.

Got a whopper for ya today.....

on the right there were skinny little barley legal stippers wigglin around and THUMPING repeating music with the words singing "PLEASE CUM WITH ME" like a command, and its showing barley legal strippers pulling off their clothes, I swear you can about SEE nipple, and they they are rubbing themselves between the legs
....the add wants me to come and meet these nasty girls LIVE RIGHT NOW!! ALL FREE!!!

I have turned down my sound...but the girls are still flashing me T & A and rubbing their crotches.
Oh and they are NOT animated...these are real human females.

The add made all its music and flash and I never even accidentally ran my clicker near it.....just loading the main page was all it took.

It is right here in the board business forum... My bad guys, I didn't research it...
Anyhow, I had just started a thread in an outrage over this stripper ad complete with pole-dancing music. I see it has been brought up.
My beef was with the moral highground claims made in reference to marijuana and other things attracting quality posters here to this site...

If this is truly the site's intentions, this ad will be removed immediately.


Thanks for consideration. As I have seriously made efforts not to post on the marijuana threads unless I thought they were a topic of site-friendly discussion... ie the recent propsed legislation decriminalizing the substance.

I feel that if the site owner is directly asking people not to post about marijuana because he doesn't want to "scare off" quality posters, he shouldn't allow an ad hosting legal prostitution (pole dancers barely of age)

In the thread I started about the strippers I mentioned this ad also.

When I first heard it I thought that something was wrong with my computer, as the ad sounded like some sort of time-bomb...
I think that ALL audio driven ads need to go, as I like to listen to music in the background as I'm reading threads (unless I'm listening to a referenced video, that is) and I don't want the advertisers here monopolizing my computer.

I really hate ads that make noise no matter what.

But this one just came up on the MediaAboveTopSecret site and loudly informed me I had won a free Wii -- in the middle of me trying to watch a video.

THATS the culprit right there that Jay and I are on about.

I kind of figured it must be. Hopefully something will be done about it; it's very offputting to have those girls squirming over at the side of the screen

It's a 2-part ad - the above is a combined screenshot. That ad shows up constantly on an online 80's radio station I frequently listen to (Live365).

I also see it posted on the movie soundtracks channel...

I was browsing through BTS this evening when I got a message that Firefox had blocked 6 popup windows. I'm on a Mac (OSX 10.5.6) with Firefox 3.0.7.

Hello there. I've never complained about an ad before and usually just grin and bear it but this one is driving me nuts. It 'spans out' and partially covers the page whenever you browse the top menu bar. Here is a screen shot of what it is doing. If someone can tell me how I get the code for it, I'll retrieve it and paste it here if necessary.

Absolutley. The ones with the mosquito buzzing and the ref jumping around blowing his whistle non stop are the worst!

Often when I am on the compter I am listening to music and hearing those noises not only interferes with the music but it makes me think there is something wrong with my computer for a second untill I realize that its just an ad.... So annoying.

sometimes when i go to a new thread/refresh a screen, it comes up at the bottom of the browser that pubad.g something or other is transfering data. It slows EVERYTHING to a grinding hault. Please deal with it, it's well irksome.
